If this needs to be merged then so be it.

Theres a question that I was wondering about that I cant find an answer for.

Do the players get their salaries plus part of a teams revenue, or do the players salaries come from a teams revenue?

Example: does Demarcus Ware make his contract money plus part of the Dallas Cowboys revenue? Or does his salary come from said revenue?

The reason I ask is because the players say they want more revenue sharing, dont they make a salary? If I was an owner I wouldnt give them part of the revenue either, the players get paid for their work. It sounds to me like the players are being greedy.

While I cannot say this for sure, I believe the players salaries are limited by the salary cap which is determined based on annual league revenues and the percentage allocated to player salaries. So if teams shared more money, the salary caps would go up which in turn would lead to higher player salaries. If the owners shared less revenue, the salary caps would be lower which would lead to lower player salaries.

It is also likely that veteran minimums and rookie salary caps would also be a percentage based on the revenue figures from the league and/or the size of the salary cap.

Again, I am not an expert in this area like Adam, but I believe that is the correlation.
