I am so down for that.
Ware and Quinn w/ Rob Ryan going nuts, it would be fun to watch

What I like best about Quinn is he is talented and has a great motor. If the player is smart to top it off, he could be a very good pick. Problem is, we need linemen (offensive and defense) OLB isn't as big of a need.
That said, I would absolutely hate it if Tyron Smith went to Washington.

Cameron Newton to Buffalo @ #3? That would be an ignorant pick.

Not for us, that would only push a quality player down closer to us.

Look at all of the top OTs going later in the first.
That's why I am not so sure we could just wait till the second to get one of them.

Once the first one falls, they will go down like Dominos. Even with Tyron Smith being a year or so away, I think someone will reach and take him. He has what it takes to be a franchise LT. He is heads above everyone else. His only problem is he isn't ready size wise yet. He got greedy and came out early.
With our new strength and conditioning coach (hopefully) Tyron Smith might be the way to go. We will still have to wait a year, but having a Franchise LT for the next 10-12 years would OWN! Especially with having Free at RT.

to go that high with a Olinemen...they're so darn unpredicatble, but it doesn't change the fact we need a minimum of 3 to replace Davis, Kosier and Colombo. We'll probably sign one and draft two I'm guessing...I think we should trade down about 4 spots and get one. Quinn is seemingly a beast but I worry about him being physical enough at the point of attak in the NFL. Thoughts

But he said he doesn't want Quinn for the same reason. Is that because he thinks we have too many OLB/DE on this team? Or is he saying we have the necessary talent at those positions like we did at WR before drafting Dez?

I think he is afraid that Quinn would take over as the best WR on the team. :p:

I think it's unessacery, Spencer can get the job done and has potential to be good, last year at this time people were debating our lbs vs steelers.

Quinn+Ware+ An Anthony Spencer with his head out of his ***+ Ratliff + a 2 gap NT I hope we get= Pure dominance. Impossible to defend. Amoeba defnse would be killer.
I'll go as far to say it wouldn't matter if we start Alan Ball again.............. Ok maybe not.

You know what they say about potential. It gets the coach fired. BTW four years in Spencer needs to produce or go else where.

Tyron Smith going at 10. Rob Rang gave Smith to Dallas at 9 and his partner gave Dallas Costonzo. I smell the rising smoke of Smith, and Bunting gave Pouncy a big time high grade last year. Smith is starting to heat up, and I'm hoping and betting that he's around 303 or 305 during the combine and that he could be 310 by April. Smith will be making that trip to Valley Ranch.
I think Smith and Sherrod fit what the Cowboys want at LT and both could plug and play very good at RT, before making the switch to LT. I think Sherrod could play LT in 2011 if you needed him to do it.
Smith plays with a wide base and is a strong player who will get bigger and stronger. He is in the mold of D' Brickashaw Ferguson.
I think Smith and Sherrod can both defeat Doug Free convincingly enough when you draft vertically and both would crush Marc Colombo, the weakest player on a fading offensive line. Both players are younger than Free, and Free isn't guaranteed to be back. Free is scheduled to be one of the top OT free agents, in a weak free agent OT class. What do the Cowboys think about Smith and Sherrod when they compare them to both Free and Colombo. I like that match-up comparison in favor of Smith and Sherrod.
On the other hand, I don't think Dallas would draft Quinn based on vertical drafting vs Anthony Spencer, possible medical concerns, and character concerns. Replacing Spencer, one of your strong players on defense, in favor of replacing Colombo in 2011 and likely Free at LT in 2012 (if he is resigned) makes no sense. Have you made your team better? No.
I don't think Dallas will draft Miller, Quinn, Julio Jones, Amukamara, or Harris at 9 based on vertical roster analysis or vertical drafting.
I still think you are looking at an OT or a DE, and I would take Smith or Sherrod at 9. By the time April comes, that isn't going to sound crazy, imo.
OTs rise, and these two players fit the bill, even though Smith still has work to do. Just by looking at Smith's wide base and size, I bet he's going to add that weight. He played RT at USC and has great LT athletic ability and big time upside. Smith is lurking and will force the Cowboys to pay attention, imo.

Drafting Smith or Sherrod is making a big deposit in the bank accounts of Romo, Witten, Austin, Bryant, and my guy Felix Jones. The offensive skill players are the absolute strength of the team, and I would give them every opportunity to play their very best. Drafting Smith or Sherrod is putting the those offensive skill players in a better position to succeed. Not only are you investing in an offensive linemen, you are investing in the strength of your team.
The NFC is an offensive league, and Dallas' offensive line is holding the offense back. The divisional round glass ceiling will not be shattered until this offensive line gets younger, stronger, and much more athletic and stronger on the edges and inside. Drafting Smith or Sherrod puts a big deposit in that bank account.
How much longer will Dallas ignore this aging, fading offensive line? The average age of the current offensive line will be 33 next season, and that isn't going to cut it. Why was Marc Colombo even on the team in 2010? I wanted him replaced for sure after that Vikings debacle. The 2009 draft was a disaster on the offensive line front.
How many more drafts are going to pass?

If Quinn is there Dallas BETTER not pass him up... He's a special talent.

Anthony Spencer is to Robert Quinn, as Roy Williams is to Dez Bryant.

and I didn't want to pick Dez last year, I don't want to pick Quinn this year. Hey im not a dez hater, I just hated the pick as I said. Would kill to have Bryan Bulaga instead right now, or who knows what we could've accomplished this year if we traded up and grabbed Earl Thomas or Mike Iupati, or traded down and got Nate Allen and another starter.
Victor Butler has potential as Kevin Ogletree has potential.
Only thing missing from making these picks more alike is we don't have a Crayton like player at OLB.

I hope the Boys do trade out of the #9 pick. Let someone fall in love with C. Newton and give Dallas another 2nd rounder, while picking later in the 1st round.
