Jason Spitz - C - Packers The Florida Times Union speculates that the Jaguars may have interest in free agent G/C Jason Spitz.
The Times Union cites Spitz's "versatility and pedigree" as appealing to the Jags. Incumbent C Brad Meester is coming off a strong season and signed cheaply ($1.95 million) through 2011, so Spitz probably wouldn't be a candidate to start. OGs Vince Manuwai and Uche Nwaneri aren't going anywhere. Related: JaguarsSource: Florida Times Union Feb 12, 11:35:00
Daryn Colledge - G - Packers Free agent LG Daryn Colledge is considered "doubtful" to return to the Packers in 2011.
The Wisconsin State Journal characterized Colledge as "clearly the weakest link" on Green Bay's line, and he's also not exactly been a favorite of the coaching staff. Though Colledge has proven durable and mostly effective inside, he's going to command more money than the Packers are willing to pay.

well, well, looks like the high and mighty packers being rumored to have a dynasty, is their dynasty rumors being broken? Remember now, a couple of their defensive linemen are reportedly being looked at in free agency too.
Charles Woodson got hurt and is older, and one of their star wrs that is older now to got hurt in SB. And now we signed their wr coach away from them. What you say now zoners.
Remember we lost valuable backup players in 94 to free agency too, that weakened us in championship playoff game against the 49ers.

As far as I can tell Spitz was a backup and they have little interest in bringing College back. They added a #1st round pick last season in Buluga and they are widely expected to go with another #1st round pick on the OL this season.
I'm not one of these people who believes the Packers are at the beginning of some big dynasty, however, I don't t think they are fretting losing these two guys.

Remember we lost valuable backup players in 94 to free agency too, that weakened us in championship playoff game against the 49ers.Mainly, we lost a starting LB to the 49ers, and they signed Deion. Even at that, the Cowboys didn't lose because the 49ers had a better roster. No way a Jimmy Johnson led team would've lost to them in '94.
Thinking GB will be severly weakened by this is wishful thinking. Their roster is absolutely loaded.

Interesting points. Both Driver and Woodson are getting up there in age for the Packers -- I'm not even sure the Packers <want> Driver back next season.
The next guys up for them would be Sam Shields (Woodson) and Jordy Nelson (Driver).... man, their backups suck ;-)

Thing about G.Bay------they seem to be able to peg guys in the draft and other low cost FA's to effectivly replace depth and injuries...
Look at the injury problems they had this year---heck of a job to overcome that---gotta admit that. Sets the bar high for Jerry

I think both guys could be worth a look here if we want to replace Kosier

So Jimmy would have prevented the injuries which more than leveled the playing field in 94?
I have read this comment from so many people over the years and wonder if any of you have a crystal ball.
This is the same comment as - if player X had the defense of team Y he would win a Super Bowl.
Sounds really logical, doesn't it?
But there is absolutely no empirical evidence either of those statements would be true.

Thats one of the downsides of winning the SB. You take hits as far as players/coaches leaving. But GB is well equipped to overcome any losses. Driver is a great leader, but is really the 3rd wr. Woodson, would be tough to replace, but the Pack have some young, solid depth behind him. IMO the biggest ? for the Pack next year is shoring up their O-line, but their O-line situation is not as dire as the Boys.

I'd say the Packers are VERY prepared if last year's draft impact is anything like this years. I read an article today about what the Packers managed to do with their 2010 draft (and undrafted FA). It went something like this:
1st Round, Buluga, OT -> Starter
3rd Around, Burnett, Safety -> Opening Day Started until he went on IR
4th Round, Quarless, TE -> Starting for 12 games after Finley went down
5th Round, Starks, RB -> Starting RB in the playoffs
Undrafted FA, Sam Shields, CB -> Essentially started at CB and played great as Woodson moved into that nickle CB/S/LB Role
Undrafted FA, Frank Zombo, LB -> Starting the majority of games at OLB for them. Had their only sack in the Superbowl
They 2nd round pick (Mike Neal) went on IR early and their two other draft picks ended up making the team as back-ups.

Woodson will be fine even if he's not they got two very good corners behind him in Tramon Williams and Sam Shields. Driver might retire but they still have Jennings, Jones, and Nelson. The Packers will be fine.

Issue is that Jimmy didnt lead that team. Ken Norton went to the 49ers that year. Jimmy left after the superbowl win. Switzer took very Jimmy's team and the BOYS had 3 turnovers in that game against the 49ers. They were down before they could blink.
