Let's say Rivera signs.... what kind of OLine are you thinking for the Boys this year? needs to be good to protect Drew...

If we get Rivera, the only hole left is at RT, with a young pup waiting in the wings at guard in Peterman for depth.
I'm hopeful for a solid signing at RT, but if we do get Rivera, it makes me think we'll hitch our bets with Rogers at either LT or RT...which makes me EXTREMELY nervous since he can't even start lifting weights for so long.

Assuming we get Rivera we will be in decent shape. If we then get a solid Tackle we will be one of the top lines in the league.

BINGO. Even if we sign Rivera, we HAVE to find an answer at RT. I don't think that answer resides on our roster right now and we would have a hard time finding him in the draft. So it looks like we may have to bite the bullet and sign McKenzie. I know that it may take a BIG chunk of whats left of the cap, but it is a HUGE need if Bledsoe is out starter next year.
I would be THRILLED if we finished up with signing Rivera, McKenzie, and a suitable FS (Smith?).
Then solve your other problems in the draft, like DJ to help in LB corp and Clayton to add a playmaker on offense....

I don't think Rogers will be part of the plans for next season. Parcells was already noted as saying in the DMN that Rogers would be worked at LT only next season. I can't believe they are going to move Flozell only to replace him with a totally unproven guy at the most important position on the line. Flozell played like a knucklehead last year, but he still does a pretty good job of protecting a QB's blind side and I would hope he will play better next season. The Cowboys look dumb for drafting a kid in the 2nd round to start right away at RT only to discover he can't play the position.

There's one other way to possibly look at this, and it's to say that with Dan Campbell coming back, Parcells may feel that Tackle isn't quite as big a need. I honestly thought the line was worse up the middle than on the edges. Was that just me?

How can you play tackle in the NFL with two bad shoulders?
We can bring in either a RT or a LT because I think they really want to move Adams to the RT spot. That will get his bad ear away from the QB so maybe he won't miss the snap count so much and he really is more of a natural RT anyway since he doesn't have ideal lateral movement.

My gut tells me Rogers will go play LT...Vollers backing him up...move Flo to RT.
LT Rogers
LG LA
C Big Al
RG Rivera
RT Flo
Look at it this way....4 of the 5 are dominant at their position if Flo moves, with ??? only with Rogers and Vollers at LT.
We keep Flo at LT...he's not solid against speed rushers...and no RT...which is worse???
What a line JJ would have to run with...

I wonder if a tackle in the draft is an option? Kahlif Barnes or the Oklahoma Tackle? I have trouble thinking Bill will trust a rookie tackle with Bledsoe back there. Although if we sign Rivera I don't want to throw more big money on Right Tackle.
I would rather look for a big linebacker or Safety.

No way BP lets us to into the season with those kind of questions at RT with Bledsoe back there.

The only thing I can say is run Julius run. He should go close to 2000 yards next season.

Well, on paper it's going to be the best line we've had in years regardless of who we put at RT.

We CANNOT go into next season counting on Tucker or Rogers at RT. That would be a huge mistake. It's imperative we get a RT in here or Bledsoe's in for a long season.

I'd love that OL, but it's highly unlikely. Too many holes on defense still with LBs and DE. Is Tucker at RT not an option at all? We can hope he progresses. It's just hard to imagine Gurode, Tucker, Rogers, and Peterman as back-ups for 2 years. 3 2nds and an UDFA.......big investment.
