I posted this question at the back of the Henry thread but I wanted it to be it's own topic :D
Hunter to FS? Frazier in the slot? I still think Hunter is a player and was really bummed when he went down last year I would love to see him try out the FS position and keep the more aggresive Frazier for the slot receiver.

Hunter would be a decent backup but really, I'd like to see what Keith's got at FS.

Hunter DOES NOT tackle well enough to play FS. Of course, he doesn't cover well enough to play CB either so I don't know where he's gonna play. :D

In all fairness, I think Hunter was starting to come together last year before he went down I just hope he gets a chance at FS, Frazier I think is a perfect nickle back/slot receiver guy.

I like Hunter, seems like a good kid. I was really hoping he would develop into something, and he still might. But I have pretty much given up on him. He hasn't shown me anything, even before his injury last year. Just my opinion.

I don't think you can ever have enough quality CBs on your team. I'll take seven starters and trade one for.....you pick.
I think they hand Henry the starting job but he could lose it. I'd put the best guy out there. You've already paid the money for them all so use them wisely.
Besides someone is always down with at least a pull or something.

I've posted this many times. Hunter is a FS, that is his natural position. That is the position he was playing when the NFL scouts noticed him.
Look into his Bio, I also posted that before. His freshman season was the only time he played/didn't play CB.(Meaning he was listed as a corner, but he never played in any game on the defense, but he was listed as a CB.
His 2nd year in college he was moved to the starting SS spot, where he excelled and had a number of Ints. He was made captain of the defense in his Junior season and he was moved to FS, where he again excelled and had numerous Ints, he finished out his college career as a FS, in rcvd conference honors and once again he had numerous Ints.
But for some reason Campo and his defensive assistants saw that he was listed as a CB his freshman season and they got all sweaty and dreamed of having a big CB to battle the big WRs in their conference and Division.
I have been saying sisnce day one that Hunter was and is the FS that we have needed for the last 4 yrs.
Now, I believe they will move him to his true position, (Hopefully).

I don't think Hunter tackles well enough to be a FS... I look for him to be a slot corner, and the first CB off the bench if one of the starters gets hurt... I suspect he will be pretty good in this role...

I think you have Newman then Henry then a bunch of unproven guys.
I happen to like the no names chances of putting two or more capable guys out there.
We need at least five CBs and I'm thinking maybe six. You could even have Hunter as a FS/CB. He has the size and speed to be a FS but they are going to have to have a major problem at safety and him not stand out as a CB to move him right now.
I'm rooting for him to be a major player somewhere this year. If he gets it he should make plays.

I'm betting that Hunter is the third CB who comes in on nickle packages while Henry moves over to the slot. That's just a guess though. The fact is that corners are more valueable than S. Besides, I think Hunter is better suited to be a Corner.

Mods, can we possibly put a sticky of Dale's response to Hunter at FS? Rehashing is getting old.
Shortly - we TRIED him at FS about 3 years ago. It was disastrous. He is not an NFL FS.

Have Frazier and Hunter battle for the nic. spot. We need a little depth anyhow.

I think Hunter and Frazier will battler for the slot and Hunter should win, hopefully. I'd really like to see K Davis get a real shot at the FS spot, but i wouldnt really mind getting a more experienced player in at FS.

I would love to see Davis play some safety, but I don't want to go into the season without a backup plan if he can't do it (like we did at RCB last season. Backup plans help.)

It's been tried - a complete failure. He either plays CB or is out of the league.

Got into a "discussion" about this earlier with Doomsday. Apparantly it's not anymore important for a FS to be able to tackle then it is for a CB. And he "knows" this cuz he played FS for 4 years at some crap college.
Seriously, anyone that doesn't realize how important it is that your FS be a good tackler is completely clueless. ANd I said "Tackler", not "Hitter". He doesn't have to lay people out, he just has to make sure they don't break off 50 yard TD runs. The FS is the last line of defense so he HAS to be a good tackler.

In all fairness he was doing this at Virginia Union, not against top talent. But I do agree we should try him out at safety if we can't get a better solution in the draft.

I wasn't all that impressed with what I saw from Hunter last year... granted it was a very short showing
on the other hand, I liked Frazier. He certianly wasn't ready to start, but I think he'll make an excellent nickle. He has a nose for the ball. Reminded me of Derek Ross's 1 good year. Smaller CB that likes to "taunt" the QB and makes good breaks on the ball.

Hunter can play special teams...right now he doesn't deserve playing time at CB or S, imo....he was the worst player on our defense before his injury and everything changed and went downhill trying to cover for him.

Hunter is no good, he's the Randal Williams of corners "speed and lot's of potential" he just is not that good to be a starter for any team. He will struggle to make this team. The only way he makes the team is on Dime packages and special teams, other than that, he'll get cut.

Is that why Dallas wants to try Dantzler? Yeah he is such a great tackler. LOL .Give it a rest, no one said that you don't need to tackle but a FS job is to provide support.

Hunter is coming off an ACL tear and there is no way he will have the confidence to play CB starting out this year. It would not surprise me to see him on the PUP list early on. @ year recovery for a RB from an ACL tear to be 100% usually. I just don't see how he will compete especially at CB.
On passing downs we will have 4 CB's on the field and Roy Williams as the only true safety.
