I forget his name, but that is a strong dude! And, he only weighs 305 lbs.

He might be another Larry Allen when he grows up!
:D

Anyone know more about this dude since I don't really follow much College ball?

Stephen Paea, but it is 49 reps at 225, not 250.

He's a DT from Oregon State.

You think he can be a good player? He's light, but I saw Rob Ryan in the background clapping bigtime....

That's is some impressive stuff...it set a new record.

Oregon State. Kid is a freak. Not only is he strong as a herd of bulls, but he is explosive off the snap.

I like these kind of players. Big, strong and hungary! And light on their feet.

you have to worry that his short body and arms are going to be too much to overcome at the NFL level - he'll get attention for this but he's a 2nd rounder at best

If he falls to 2nd its only b/c of his injury, combined with his weight, or lack thereof. Supposed to be 311 but only weighed 295 at SR Bowl.

Paea has been battling leg injuries all season (literally playing on one leg) and had to lose some weight so as not put so much stress on himself. Paea will be 320 plus in the NFL. And NTs are usually under 6'3 so they can maintain low center of gravity to hold their ground. Steelers' Casey Hampton is also 6'1 and Ravens' NT (Kelly Gregg) is even shorter (6'0).

What does Dareus have to do w Paea?

Nothing , other than the fact that he can`t get 50% of the reps that Paea did.:laugh2:

It's funny that when they show who had the highest bench press totals that I didn't know a single one of their names...

I thought the same thing. I was expecting that most of them would be well known good players, yet I looked like this  when I read the names. I guess it isn't as important as you would have thought......

Those guys are short -- but they have longer arms than Paea - that has been the knock on him - you want a low center but his arms are going to give him problems getting off blocks.

if he weighed 295 he is dropping faster - you might list an NT at 311 but he needs to be closer to 330 -- Hampton and Gregg are both over 320

The easiest way to get lots of bench press reps is to have a wide body with short arms. Not exactly the physique of a top football player. Now I don't know about this kid this year I haven't looked up his arm length, but that is generally the concern with high bench press rep guys.

Damn! He was throwing that wait around like it was 25lbs :laugh2: I mean, to pump out 10 at that rate is pretty good, he did something like 30 that fast.

32 7/8 inch arms..just a hair under the bench mark...not sure this is that much cause for concern

been considered a top 15, even top 10 pick, for most of the season. Hey, Tyson Alualu went 10th over all and even though it was a huge reach, it goes to show that all it takes is one team selecting in that area who thinks highly of him.

He's done nothing to prove he doesn't belong in the conversation.

Exactly right Randy. Had he not had surgery at the end of the season, he would easily be considered a mid 1st round pick and perhaps higher. This guy has skills and he is absolutely a play maker. He is a La Roi Glover type player IMO. Maybe a better comparison might be Steve McMichaels of the 85 Bears.
