Sam Hurd wasn't among the four players who received one-year restricted tenders Tuesday, but that doesn't mean his five-year stay in Dallas is done.

What it means right now is Hurd can sign anywhere he wants once (if?) the free-agent signing period begins. And if the next CBA follows the previous CBA's unrestricted free agent requirement of four accrued seasons, the five-year veteran would be a UFA anyway.

For that matter, so would Doug Free (first- and third-round tender), Stephen Bowen (second-round tender) and Jason Hatcher (second-round tender). All have at least five years in the league, too, rendering their restricted designations meaningless...

another team offers him a chance to play WR ( Dullphins are a prime candidate ) I think Sam will be back with the Cowboys next season. He's turning out to be a poor man's version of Bill Bates but I understand the need to explorer other options, especially if it means an upgrade in the playing time. The only chance he'll get in Dallas as a receiver is if the same thing that happened last year happens again, ie: ton of injuries.
