Cowboys Tackle To Retire
Irving, Tx - Reports out of Valley Ranch indicate that 2nd year Tackle Jacob Rogers will retire. Staff has stated an official statement would be released later today in a press conference. Rogers has had 4 major surgeries on his right shoulder, the latest was in January. Rehabilation was thought to bring the young player along, but Rogers injury is to the same shoulder and the rotator has been damaged and is degenerative. Rogers was draft in 2004 in the 2nd Round of the NFL Draft.
The Cowboys have had interest in pursuing at RT in Free Agency. The Cowboys are in the running for Jets RT Kareem McKenzie. Other options may come high in the draft, they are a few top notch Tackles available for the Cowboys.

Well if this is true then we can officially call that pick a waste.

wow that sure brings down a bit from the happy FA vibe I was feeling. I knew there were many reports about all of his surgeries, etc but this is a surprise. Sure hope Peterman turns out to be a stud or JJ may be all we have to show for last yrs draft...and Buffalos pick.

I'm sad for the kid, but I still don't understand why we took a chance on him.
There was other options.

I believe it's been reported that the call on Rogers was made by Parcells himself.

Somehow this does not upset me that much. I knew when he had to have surgery yet again on that shoulder that he would never be able to play well in this league. My biggest fear lately was that they would insist on playing him instead of bringing in a new tackle and he was going to fail; therefore I am somewhat relieved. Sure it bothers me that we wasted yet another pick but I guess I have grown a thick skin in that regard with the Cowboys.

Fortunately we have Lemon Laws in Texas. I think we get a new tackle at equal value.
Lemon Law Buy Back.
If you are successful in a Texas Lemon Law claim the manufacturer will be required to purchase your tackle. It will be purchased at a price which is your purchase price less a factor for use. Therefore, the sooner you complain about your lemon problem the less deduction will be taken from the price that you paid.
The Texas Lemon Law only applies to purchases of new tackles that are still under factory warranty and is generally limited to tackle problems that occur in the first two years or 24 games after the purchase. A tackle is considered a lemon if it has two unrepaired rotator cuffs, four unrepaired defects that are not shoulder related, or has been out of service more than 30 days without a loaner tackle. Other problems with tackles may be pursued under other laws.

don't you think if that was true we would be looking at ot's instead of guards?i'll wait and see but it would seem to me that would be our approach if he was retiring
it's nutty picks like this that make you wonder what the heck are these scouts thinking. Yeah sure, hindsight is 20/20 but c'mon, MULTIPLE shoulder surgeries?! And it's not like they were rolling the dice on some potential superstar,,, he was an average freaking lineman!

Yep....so there is a legit gripe against Bill.
He kept on saying stuff about Jacobs being a coaches son and he likes that in players.
Furthermore to add for gripes sake (can't believe I am giving ammo to the bill bashers lol)....he, Bill, had also been on record of saying they did not want to draft players that were medical risks or something along the nature of not being a hospital ward..can't remember the actual phrase but something along those lines.
But as JackMagist says...better we know now instead of later.

I don't think it's fair to call Rogers a bust. A bust is someone who plays and isn't worth a damn after shelling out a lot of money. Rogers really didn't have a chance to show what he could do because he was injured most of the time.

What the hell is it about USC Left tackles (Boselli) and their shoulders?
Eskimo predicted this if I remember right. Unreal. I still hope it is not true because he was a 2nd round pick that gave us nothing. I am not optimistc.

Dame! That blows!!! It was a gamble and it blew up in our faces. 2nd round picks don't grow on trees. If Peterman doesn't pan out, then this really will go down as a horrible draft.

BP should be questioned hardcore on this one if it is true. A reporter has to ask why weren't we more concerned with his old injuries.
OT just went way up on our priority list. Draft anyone?????

OT with pick #20 just became a very real possibility.
Alex Barron of Florida State won't fall that far. Who else is a 1st round T?

That's exactly who I was trying to think of and examing everyones needs ahead of us there is a strong possibility of him making it. The question is if he is worth it. I'm a FSU fan and I love this kid I'm just not sure a high first round should be spent on an O'lineman

Is anyone familiar with the source of this article? Why does it say sportsrumormill.com and ESPN bottom line in the same article? I'm not saying this isn't true, I'm just curious....

It does kind of... I'm starting to not believe this. "Staff has stated an official statement will be released later in a press conference"... Sounds kind of bogus. You wouldn't call a press conference to announce a low second round pick's retirement, I don't think.
At least I hope.

#20 is prime territory for guys like Jammal Brown out of Okla. You might also see some people pimping up Barnes from Washington as well.
I'd much rather score someone like McKenzie through FA personally...
If this turns out to be true, a terrible pick. Not a bust simply because they should have known his concerns previously. This falls squarely on BP and staff.

Jamaal Brown of Oklahoma could be a good pick up at 20 for our RT spot.

I checked the link and the report is originally from a message board, not ESPN. Sounds fake to me. I don't think I've ever seen one of these message board rumor links turn out to be true.
