Personally, I think Marco Rivera being from Brooklyn, NY is major reason why Parcells brought him aboard. Is it me or has their been a significant influx on East Coast players onto the roster since Parcells took the reins. ;)

Anyway................

Rivera has good size, great strength and plays with a mean streak. He has great lower-body strength, consistently pushes the pile, and will win most fistfights in a short area. He gets adequate hand placement and will win most battles once he locks on. He has the strength to neutralize most two-gap defenders and can anchor at the point of attack. He is aggressive and works to finish blocks and punish his man. As a protector, he has a quick set and good awareness. He recognizes stunts and blitzes, and is a leader in terms of line calls and knowledge of his assignments. But Rivera isn't much of an athlete, and is somewhat of a liability in space. He struggles when asked to pull or trap, and doesnt show much mobility in the open field. He lacks ideal change-of-direction skills and doesnt consistently block the moving target or reach the second level. He still lacks ideal quickness and agility, though he has improved in both areas. At 32, he hasnt shown many signs of slowing down. One of the most fundamentally sound lineman in the game, he has the know-how to mask his weaknesses.

Rivera has a very strong upper-body, gets adequate hand placement and will win most battles once he's locked on. Plays with a mean streak, is aggressive at the point of attack and will stun the defender with a powerful initial punch. Plays with a great motor and always works to finish his blocks. Is a fiery competitor. Has not missed a game over the last five seasons and is durable. Has good work ethic and is a crafty veteran. However, Rivera is a much better football player than he is an athlete and he is somewhat of a liability in space. Will struggle when asked to pull or trap and doesn't show much mobility in the open-field. Lacks ideal change of direction skills and doesn't show the ability to consistently block the moving target. Overall, Rivera will be 32 next season and is starting to enter the downside of his career.

"A liability in space"? We are talking about a mauling guard here, not an astronaut.
