Hey, Cowboys, don't get cute in the NFL Draft (and other suggestions)

The NFL officially shut down last weekend.
But our local football team beat the league to that closed door by a good 21/2 months.
The Dallas Cowboys, except for coaching staff hires and draft work, shut down football operations the second the 2010 season ended.
Based on the dormant state of late, you could guess that somebody at Valley Ranch actually believes everything is OK with the football talent on hand.
But really, I'd have to give even Jerry more credit than that.
Some friends of mine are convinced the Cowboys' spider-hole hiding since early January is a financial indication the team is "football broke." That might be valid.
There are reports the Cowboys have more committed money to players for 2011 than any club in the league.
Rather scary when you've got a team coming off a 6-10 record.

i agree with Galloway on one thing. Dont get cute just pick at 9. And theres one clear choice at 9 the way most mocks have it and that pick will most likely be Amukamara. I'd like for him to play FS tho. Guy has the size and is very good in open space. But, i think if he's drafted Newmans days are numbered. Hopefully im wrong, but unless the he renegotiates his deal he's a goner.

I'm all about picking up a CB, not sure that there is an OL that warants a #9 pick, so what I get from this is don't get cute and draft Newton. I really hope that last year wasn't the last we saw of Newman, but I wouldn't be suprised if it were. I don't think that trading down is the worst idea in the world this year, which is crazy because i'm usually pulling my hair out everytime Jerry trades down, except when we traded with Cleveland so they could pick up Quinn. The thing that sucks is that the draft might just be the superbowl for the year, that is if the players don't end up on the field.

The conversation and concept projecting Prince at safety makes my pay attention. As to Galloway, I hate it when after I have read one of his articles, I have to dust off the feeling that I was just insulted by a Martini produced red nose...

Martini? Really? I don't think so. Galloway is more tequila & beer than martini.

Galloway is 100% correct.

For the love of the Cowboys, stay at 9 and take the 20 year old Tyron Smith, a player who would be most likely be a top 3 pick if taken one year later.

Smith is the best offensive linemen in the draft, and he is already in the 9-13 range.

Smith is a cornerstone player (in the offensive line) and will have the same value that B.J. Raiji gave Green Bay's defensive line.

Newman should stay, too.

Forgot that one..:)

9. Tyron Smith OT USC

Don't blow it....

by trading down and taking and inferior player and getting an extra inferior player..
