All match ups are figured out except for the 8th seed in the West, that will hopefully go to the Stars.
Stars vs. Wild on right now. Win and we play Philthy. GO STARS!

I don't think fans of division winning teams deserve to be as nervous as I am for the Caps.....much like our our beloved Cowboys, the Caps have a knack for building an intense amount of optimism....only to fail in epic fashion in the postseason.
The Rangers making the 8th seed didn't do anything to ease those feelings either....
Sick of ending the season rooting against the Penguins, rather than FOR the Caps.
Good luck to all of your teams....except against mine. ;)

PREDICTION-
Sabres vs. Canucks
I think Sabres fans are like Eagles fans and it drives me nuts here in NY. I am the only Stars fan in New York. I am almost cornered by Sabres fans. It makes me want to move to Texas even more...
but anyways Canucks win the Cup.

Caps up 1-0.....better start than last year. Looked pretty good too. Not dominating, but very solid. Need to watch the giveaways in the neutral zone. Rangers are a good team, and won't let you get away with too many sloppy passes before they make you pay.
I like that the Caps are winning the close games....should prove to be valuable experience in these playoffs, as seeds 1-8 are pretty damn tight in the Eastern Conference.

Huge Flyers fan here as well. Gotta agree with ya man. They looked abysmal the last stretch of the season, like they've lost all idea of how to play together. I can't wait until Carter and Richards finally grow up and stop acting like morons.

Agree. I thought last night was the perfect game to play in Game 1. Tight, close game, the team didn't panic or get out of the system and won thanks in part to a dirty garbage goal in close.
Out hit and out shot blocked the Rangers. If the Caps keep hitting like this, the Rangers will be worn out by Game 3

CapitalFan must have had a strange sense of deja vu last night as for the second straight year an 8 seed took them to OT in game one. This year they won.
For me the only series that counts is Canadiens-Bruins. I live in Vancouver so the faster the Canucks go out the better for me but they will probably last a couple of rounds and the people around will make my life miserable. They are having jersey day tomorrow and allegedly only Canuck jerseys can be worn.

Eh. Miller played a fine game, but the Flyers also blew a couple pretty good chances. They let this one slip away, like you said, with a lack of urgency.
I'm just going to say that if we lose this series, i'd seriously start considering moving Richards and/or Carter. Im sick of the party all night crew and how it always seems to transfer over to their lack of hustle on the ice. Carter in particular can GTHO. I've never seen a more talented player care any less than he does most nights.

Miller played fairly well last game.. but the Flyers are just getting screwed out of this series with some of these penalty calls man. Im not one to usually complain about officiating, but a 5 minute major for putting your arm up when someone is taking a run at you, and double roughing minors when you're getting cross checked in the back 6 times in a row while your facedown and helpless on the ice.. and getting cross checked in the back and punched in the face with a cheap shot from the goalie? Unreal.

All my other teams are Texas though...but then again, I am San Antonio, born and raised....San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, Texas Longhorns TAMU-CC Islanders, and Judson Rockets.
In fact, three of my favorite wrestlers are from Texas....Stone Cold Steve Austin (Victoria), HBK (San Antonio), and The Undertaker (Houston area I believe).
GO PENS....up 3-1...let's bring it back to Pittsburgh and close this son of a gun out.....

Gionta shot it right at him. If he hits it straight, it's in but he angled it and it went right into Thomas. Great save but not as great as some you see.
Canadiens were 5-1 in elimination games last playoff, hopefully they can pull out another two this year.
Canucks are choking big time and that puts a smile on my face to say the least.

Sure Edwards is a homer. He does the pbp for the local Boston TV station. He is supposed to be a homer. Cole and Healy are on the national network. Edwards always calls the plays that go against the Bruins with the same excitement he calls the plays that go the Bruins way. Cole and Healey... not so much.
Are you also saying the the Habs don't have a rep for embellishing to get the call? Really? I didn't think anyone outside of Quebec would try and sell that.

Spacek turns into the glass just before the hit and falls like he's been shot. Lays there for a few minutes, gets helped off the ice hunched over and holding his face. Misses one shift and the Bruins get a five minute major and lose their top line winger for the game. Classic Habs right there.
Then the Carey Price dive. Doesn't even get touched but falls like he was slewfooted and the ref standing a hundred feet away calls the goaltender interference.
They are the epitomy of classlesness. They know they can't match up five on five so whatever it takes to get the power play.

blah, blah, blah, Spacek had his head driven into the glass by Quasimodo and was bleeding from the temple, but I guess he faked that too right?

I watched the game. I see things myself and don't rely on what the broadcasters have to say.
Did you expect Spacek to be back at all after his dramatics on the ice? Sure looked like he was done the way he just lay there squirming then had to be helped off the ice. Poor little fella couldn't even stand up straight.
How many shifts did he miss again? lol
Serious question.
A. Do you think Price tried to sell that call?
B. Do you think that was really intereference?
This game should be watched by all NHL officials. Remember the Horton breakaway that was nullified by his slashing penalty? A "slash" that happens a hundred times a game every game. Did you see the pass that Bergeron made to get that going? Did you see Bergeron getting mauled as he was making the pass?
That right there is the difference between hockey players and punks. Bergereon fought through it to try and make the play. If that had been a Hab he would have fallen down trying to draw the call instead.
Geeze man... even the Habs fans on the hockey forum admit they dive because, and I quote, "embellishment has become an intergral part of the game".
Maybe in Montreal it has but the rest of the league sees it for the bush league crap that it is. :D

None of that would have happened if Gregory's dad had just given Chara a one game suspension. We all know the history between Max and Lurch, he pushed him right into the stancion. One game would have calmed the situation but given Gregory is on the Bruins, no way was daddy going to suspend the best player on his son's team.

One game would have calmed the situation but given Gregory is on the Bruins, no way was daddy going to suspend the best player on his son's team.
WOW! You fit the stereotype of the typical habs fan to a T. The "history" is a figment of the imagine of delusional habs fans. I was at the game where the "history" started. Sitting right above the corner where Max cheapshotted Chara AFTER the game ended. Chara gave him a shove and that was about it.
You do know that Colin Campbell does not get involved in issues involving the Bruins because of the conflict of interest, don't you?
This is exactly why the hockey world can't stand the habs. Bunch of whiney pansys who thinks the rest of the league should stand aside and give the LEGENDARY Montreal Canadians was its rightfully theirs! LOL
Good luck with that and good luck on the back nine! :lmao2:

Living in the past. Ignoring reality. Blaming everyone else. Obsession with irrelevant subjects to dull the sting.
This right here ladies and gentleman is a classic example of a typical Candians fan. They boo specific players of the opposition everytime they touch the puck. They boo their own players for having a bad game.
They riot in the streets, looting and overturning cars after winning a FIRST ROUND playoff series.

That would be great to see.
Either Boston or Philly is going to be a tough matchup. The Lightning is playing with a lot of speed right now, however I'd like to see the defense tighten up. If it wasn't for Roly, we would've been out of the playoffs early.

The Bruins have trouble with speed. They were pretty passive against the Habs not wanting to get burned by the speed of the Habs forwards. They are playing MUCH more aggressively against the Flyers, pinching hard on defense to keep the pressure on because they dont fear their speed on the breakout as much as the Habs.
Long way to go in this series and if the Bruins win tonight and go up 3-0 the Flyers will say they have us right where they want us after last years debacle.

It made me sick to see my Pens blow a 3-1 lead to TB...but it was great to see TB sweep the Caps....it helped to make the Pittsburgh choke job sting a little less. It was also great to see Boston beat Philly. Now the only team left that I hate is Detwaw. I hope the Sharks can close them out tonight.

Bruins vs Canucks for the cup.
What a game 7 last night. 1-0 with no penalties called.
The Bruins have been similar to the Cowboys with their "recent" history of disappointment and underachievement. Last appearance in the finals was in 1990. Head coach and GM who it seems the majority of the fan base have/had no confidence in. A couple high profile players who had the reputation of not getting it done when it mattered most.
All that is history and they have fought their way to an opportunity to hoist the hardest trophy on the planet to win.
Let's go BRUINS!!!

I didn't take it as obtuse. It's tough to complain when parts of the rest of the county have FAR bigger problems then we do. It's still bad here though. Keeps on raining and the lake is still well over 102 feet. Most of the state parks and marinas around the lake can't open. Tough year for those that depend on the tourists.
Hope your place is high and dry.

I was there. The city was PACKED. There were congregations of people everywhere you went. My hand still hurts from high fiving a few hundred new friends. Tens of thousands at the Commons, at the Garden at Copley Square, everywhere.
It had nothing to do with the planning and everything to do with the fans who were there.
That was one hell of a party!

You said you were there and nothing happened. Parades usually don't end in riots, the riots usually happen on game night/day.
Boston specifically didn't allow people to congregate downtown on the night of game 7 for fear of a riot.
Vancouver was stupid thinking the Olympic experience would carry over to the club team and allowed people to congregate to watch the game. By the time it was clear Colin's son team would win, bottles were being thrown at the tv screens etc
We don't know what would have happened in Boston which has a history of rioting dating back to the 1770s  would have done had there been crowds out watching the game last week.

There is definite racism in the NHL. Marchand is lauded for his disrespectful actions toward vets, Subban is treated like a leper.
As for nepotism, Bruin players broke a guy's neck and another's back this year and weren't suspended. Horton had his bell rung and Rome was out the rest of the series. Things that make you go mmmmm
Bruin players said Pacioretty embellished and faked because he was tweeting three days after his was almost decapitated by Chara yet there was Horton who also suffered a severe concussion at the rink two days later yet he wasn't embellishing. Go figure.
