NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell led a league contingent that included Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, Steelers president Art Rooney II and Falcons president Rich McKay. Representing the Brady class in the Brady et al v. National Football League et al case was NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith, as well as two current NFL linebackers -- Mike Vrabel of the Kansas City Chiefs and Ben Leber of the Minnesota Vikings.

Retired player Carl Eller, the lead plaintiff in Eller et al v. National Football League et al, said on his way out, "I think we're moving forward but I think it slowed a little bit." He added that everyone was sent home with things to think about -- "homework" in his words.

"The judge asked us to provide answers to over a half-dozen question that he's asked," said Michael Hausfeld, lead attorney for the Eller class. "There's a lot of work."

People didn't want the courts involved, but it looks to me like we had a couple sides acting like children that needed their heads thumped.

It's telling that both sides are negitiating with such seriousness now. Even the players, who wanted this to go to the courts, were duly wrong in thinking the courts would be so favoarable on their side. When the judge gave both sides warning that a judicial decision on her part would have seroius consequences, I think both sides realized for the first time that they both would end up losing from that. that's why they're so eager to deal now. And that's good for them and the fans.

What happened to the gag order?

Apparently, they were able to chew through them. Probably steroids.

Maybe Eller didn't get the memo, since his comments were those actually on the record.

But the Breer's source is who I had an issue with.
