The wait should be shorter for Cecil Shorts, a Cleveland native from Mount Union projected as a third-round pick by McShay. Pro Football Weekly's Nolan Nawrocki said Shorts might even sneak into the late second round. Shorts said last week that he has visited five teams, most recently the Dallas Cowboys.
Nothing is certain for Joe Morgan of Walsh University, which played in the NAIA last season. The Canton McKinley graduate's third disciplinary violation prompted his dismissal from the University of Illinois in the spring of 2008. Nawrocki said Morgan might not even have a card on some teams' draft boards. With Morgan running the 40-yard dash in 4.44 seconds at the combine, his elite speed should get him into a training camp, perhaps that of the Kansas City Chiefs, whom he said worked him out.
....
Standing just over 5-foot-11 and 197 pounds, Shorts ran the 40 in 4.53 seconds at the combine, but he improved to 4.35 and 4.41 at his March 16 pro day, according to Pro Football Weekly. But it's not the measurables that catch the scouts' eye.
