Dear NFL Fan:

The players of the National Football League want to thank you for your support during the lockout. The NFL lockout not only impacts players, but it also affects you and thousands of people that rely on the game. We also want to thank you for doing your part as a fan and signing our “Block the Lockout” Petition.

Last week, the NFL made a big splash, releasing the 2011 Preseason Schedule for a season that is not guaranteed. The Hall of Fame game, the marquee event to start the NFL preseason, is around the corner. However, when the NFL and its owners imposed a lockout on March 12, 2011, they put the future of America’s game in serious jeopardy.

While the NFL continues to fight in court to keep the lockout in place, we want to make you aware of a few updates including a shift to petition the NFL to “Lift the Lockout.” Our message is clear and simple: we are locked out and want to play. If you want to help us get back on the field, here’s how you can help:

Tell EVERYONE you can about www.NFLLockout.com and ask them to sign the Petition to “Lift the Lockout.” The petition letter to “Lift the Lockout” is here.

What a joke this letter is. We are ticked off that the NFL dare release a schedule.
My message to the players (As if they care) is..

Hey morons! At least they are thinking on the positive side, hoping a deal gets done. And you are upset that they dare prepare for the season.

Fire the moron that is the head of the association (And yes you are still acting as the NFLPA) and you will get back on the field.

As I said before, the players are NEVER going to get a better offer than the last one presented by the owners before the lockout. They should have signed it and been happy making their millions to play a game that I played for 40 years for free.

That's the main thing that stood out for me too. It's as if the players are jealous that the owners are more organized and more capable of reaching out to the fans than they are.

i'm amazed at the amount of money the players actually do have and yet no one has enough sense to hire a PR person to stop them from shooting off every single toe while this drags on.

while i can appreciate the situation, this, as many noted, is a slam on the NFL and then a plea to still have me give a damn about them when the entire letter doesn't have enough appreciation or sympathy for THE FANS. it just screams POOR PLAYER HELP US!

neither the players nor the owners have done a freaking thing to let the fans know that they in fact *do* care about us. this 2nd hand "thank you" is a vieled attempt to keep getting THEIR message out there by using the fans to do it.

Ever think that maybe he was using ironic humor by knowing that by the exhibited intelligence level of his target group, they wouldn't even know how to load a weapon, much less take off the safety.

But then there is the more stern irony that anyone having enough knowledge for useage of a weapon, and not their own 'pistols,' would already have deep set knowledge of use of deadly force as well. This making the obvious humor a different matter, being mute on 'red neck' associations.
