Hearing there's a good chance the #Browns won't pass on Patrick Peterson at #6. Better have shutdown CBs because there will be no pass rush

Well, that kind of poo-poos the hopes I had of landing Peterson.

Maybe it's for the best.

Or....maybe this is simply a ploy to get us to pay more for PP.

I don't buy this at all.... I think *if* PP is there they will pull the trigger with us and move down. I think they are eyeing Julio Jones

I don't think this is true. They have alot more needs than cb.

I don't see the Browns taking a CB.

They just took a CB in the top 10 last year in Haden.

They have Eric Wright and traded for Sheldon Brown last year.

Instead of "Better have shutdown CBs because there will be no pass rush", why not just try to address the pass rush and help the whole defense?

If the Browns were a good team that had a few holes with CB being one of them, I could see them going for a CB.

But that's not the case. They have many more holes to fill than just the secondary.

Me either.

They should take a pass rusher before they take Peterson.

I think Wright is being taken for a ride.

The Browns have scouted the majority of the top ranked CBs, at least eleven in all. I strongly doubt they are locked into Peterson early. Of course, they would love to have him but they are not that destitute. They will get one and probably early.

They are, however, destitute at WR and would be far more likely to go with Jones or Green, whomever makes it to them than get Peterson. On the surface, their interest in the WRs seems mild as after the top two, they only looked at Jernigan and Gates.

I'd even think they would see better value in a pass rusher since they are going to a four man line and potentially could be starting people like Bryan Schaefering and Derrick Robinson (yes, our former camp body) at end if the season started tomorrow.

Two shutdown CBs sound great but they should grab a rusher, better to be be better than good at CB and good at pass rushing than great a CB and bad at pass rushing. Or they can get Colt a nice weapon in Jones.

I honestly wouldn't count this out. They just may have PP graded that high even though CB is a need not nearly as evident as WR.

I could also see it as a ploy to get someone to jump up; they could get a pass rusher or WR early in the top 15.

Joe Haden and Peterson would have the making of one of the top secondary in the league. I would not be shocked if the Browns did this after all they can still address other issues with the 37 and 70 overall picks. Comes down to how you grade Peterson.

There are more edge rushers in this draft than there are truly good CB's not surprising to hear...

they desperately need a pass rusher and/or WR. They can trade down with us and get Bowers from Clemson: great value, and his knee issue is overblown IMHO.

Problem is how long can you keep Peterson at corner?

The man is 220.

and carries it well, he is a big CB and has shown he can play the position better than any CB in the nation.

You are acting like it's impossible to play CB at 220lbs. If he can do it, then let him do it. If he can't, make him lose weight or switch to safety.

Personally, I think he is a safety at his current size/weight, but my biggest issue is his wonderlic test. Scoring that low, means he probably needs to be CB vs a safety. If anything, I make his shed 10lbs and play CB.

If his wonderlic score truly dictated his mental capacity, safety is not a place I would want him playing on my team.

No no I know it's possible. I think he'll do great at it.

But he is about a biscuit away....

For that matter if im the Cowboys I actually wouldn't mind him as a safety instead of Corner.

That biscuit did not stop him from posting the 2nd fastest time in the 40 at the combines or any of the agility drills.

Scott Wright didn't do his homework.

The Browns just used a high pick on Joe Haden and they have Sheldon Brown opposite him. Plus they have Eric Wright. CB is not a need for them. WR is.

Your hoping. Look if the Browns consider him the top player in the draft it would not shock me. Yes they have some other needs they also have top picks in the 2nd and 3rd round. It comes down in my view as to how good will Peterson be

I would really be surprised if they do take a WR in the 1st. Holmgren is from the school of Walsh who always said that you can always get a WR in the latter rounds. We will see, but I don't see how that could pass on PP IF he is the best player on there board as he should be.

Bill Walsh who in 10 years as a Head Coach picked 2 WRs in round 1?

Mike Holmgren who picked Koren Robinson in the 1st?

He's going to pass on a Julio Jones or AC Green because that what he does and what his mentor did?
