I don't understand the show.

The show is titled "The Voice" and the judges are supposed to pick people based on the voice alone, and not looks.

Sounds like a decent concept, only problem is, once the judges buzz that they like a singer they get to turn around and see who they liked.

Once you see a singer, doesn't that kind of kill the concept of the show? It's it supposed to be solely about the voice and not the looks? As soon as you SEE the singer, you throw that in there.

To me they shouldn't show the singers face until they are voted off/win the show.

Some people spend years on the cusp, even getting signed and dropped from record labels, and they simply need the opportunity. I don't think you have to just have every day people to make it entertaining.

Okay, so I watched some of the performances online. Dia definitely was my fav last night. I went to watch the Kris Allen cover of the song (I like Kris Allen btw), but Dia was definitely better and more unique. They had a little similarity, but I hated the way he sang it. I would say Dia > Kanye > Kris on Heartless. That's my opinion though.

I like her voice but I dont think anybody can touch Javier. Im not even positive she makes it past this first round. She had a good performance but I dont think it was as good as Dia or Johns performances.

I agree Blake has some work to do but her voice blows everyone out of the water. I have never heard that voice in anyone before. In all the other contestants there is already a famous musician out there with that same voice. That is why I like Xenia. But then again it's America's choice not just mine, haha.

I do agree though many of the other singers have the voice to win. Many of them, if not all, will get a recording deal. All I have to say, though, is this show is a heck of a lot better than American Idol!

The demographics are always an issue with shows that have to do with America voting for the winner. I think that's why recording companies watch the talent that goes on during these type of shows. I don't have to hope Xenia gets pick up by one of these companies, I just have to hope she gets in with a good one!

Team Cee-lo: Curtis (b/c of voting demographics) and Vicci (although I really like Nakia but, like Raquel last week, the song didn't do him any favors in highlighting his voice)

Still dont see anbody competing with Javier. It should be Javier and the big guy on Adams team and Vicci and Nakia on team Cee Lo.

Was surprised that Blake took Xenia. Not that she didnt deserve it but that he didnt go with Patrick. I understand his reasoning and looking forward to both her and Dia next week.

Dont care for Frenchie and Beverly was actually better when she had the cold. It forced her to stop screaming and actually sing more.

It will be tougher next week for the judges to eliminate.

Yes, Xenia's got a unique voice, but so do people like Macy Gray (most similar to her voice imo), Chrisette Michele and Lauryn Hill. Xenia's sooo young, she's got a lot to grow. She's not going to be ready for the stage (recording studio, maybe) until she's grown a little, live a little, and gain a lot of confidence.

As for Javier, one thing he has that rarely any Idol singer or anyone in this competition has is not only is a complete singer, he writes his own songs. If you haven't heard Javier sing one of his songs (Crazy, Come through), you are definitely missing out. I think he's very unique in this very aspect.

Javier is definitely going to win, not only b/c of his voice, but because in the last 8 years, he's amassed very loyal fans (i.e. me), and I'm sure this show's only increased his visibility.

I wasn't impressed with Adam's team on Tuesday but I still think they all have potential from what I've seen before. I don't know if they all just got overwhelmed with nerves because of the previous two teams that went or what. Although, I did enjoy Ceelo's team. They were each well prepared the group show was cute and funny.

I was pretty sure Blake's team was going to end up with the two girls and I'm glad it did. As for Christina's team I was unsure. I didn't know how America was going to vote on Frenchie even though she has a great voice. The reason I was doubtful on her was because she has already been "famous" before doing broadway plays and being on American Idol. If no one has picked her up so far why would anyone now? Of the females, my favorite voice is Xenia, but I love the sultry voice of Dia too (she does look cute, but her singing evokes a very mellow atmosphere). Funny enough, what you see in Javier is what I see in Frenchie. Great voice, but not different from the singers on AI.

Even with the viewer demographic, I'm glad that they are choosing "the voice" and I don't think Nakita would be as much of a pull to vote for b/c of his gender. Now Javier, people would vote for him b/c he's a guy, the voice is icing (for some, not most)

Yeah, I didn't like him straying away too far from what he's super good at, but I think after listening to Casey, had the better voice and performance tonight. I didn't like Casey's intro at all (the chorus was good though), but "I will always love you" was definitely not the right song for Casey's voice.

I actually liked Nakia's voice better than Vicci's tonight, but Vicci's performance was more memorable.

I purposely avoided this thread until I caught up on my DVR episodes..

I missed one before DVRing so I didn't completely get the format right away.

That said, I'm kinda surprised at some of the remaining contestants. The competition had some of the strong contestants and some very weak contestants.

Blake's team absolutely bombs. I like Xenia.. interesting voice, but if I'm about winning, I don't pick her. I go with the rocker dude or the true blue country guy. Xenia doesn't have a strong voice nor does she have alot of stage presence. It would benefit her to learn an instrument.

I loved Frenchie and Beverly... These ladies were very strong contestants. You don't go wrong in picking either one.

There were two heavy set guys that I can't remember their names. One I liked, One I didn't like.

Man in the mirror was a corny song choice by Adam, But Javier's song was good. Catchy. Maybe corny choice by Christina to choice her song Beautiful for the duet but that song is incredible and they both killed it. Thought Dia had the best original song. On twitter I saw celebrities tweeting Javier, including Bieber. If Bieber fans are voting for Javier should be a done deal. But if anyone could steal it I think it would be Dia. Javier's performanced bored me.. Voice is great, but his performances have all been pretty boo boo.

Dia original song was really nice, but I'm not a fan of her voice. I think she has a career in songwriting if she wants to go that route. She could make really good money doing that.

Vicci and Beverly were outstanding. I really enjoyed their performances, solos and duets. They've got that performer swag that you need when you're on stage.

On a side note, I'm becoming a fan of Blake Shelton. I may need to look up his music. Becoming less a fan of Adam Levine simply because he's trying to turn Javier into his clone. Ceelo pissed me off with his Patti Labelle tribute performance on BET, but he's definitely has that performers swag. And Christina's, Christina.. I'm always gonna love her. Nat'l anthem flubs and all.

I like Dia, but I really don't see how she made it this far. Her voice isn't special. It's nice but not something that will wow you.

One thing I'd like to point out is that Beverly is by far the best entertainer, and she makes HILARIOUS faces when she sings that always make me laugh. She is fun to watch.

Casting for Season 2 is underway!! I had a suspicion that Javier might win when they showed the cities that the Voice would tour in, and it included some CT town I'd never heard of.

I'm so happy Javier won. I'm so happy for the Voice because without, we'd have had Javier possibly leaving the music industry which is a shame.

Not that I follow American Idol too much but I've seen some; NBC just schooled fox on how to do a music talent show. The Voice was great, short,concise not too much fluff, about the music, cool judges/coaches, coach performances, the best ones don't get voted off early. Javviierrrr! Good for him

Every song she has sang. It's just that she has what makes her exactly not average. And that's' what makes her voice special, imo.

That and the duets she did and the "price tag" song, too. I just like the sound of her voice and I think she'll sign a deal and be a star 5-10 years from now, if not sooner.. I thought Dia made a good showing. And since I didn't catch the live show nor record it, I actually thought she was the winner till I checked my other non-youtube source. :o:

Her and her GF both got maybes but they couldn't stay in Chicago all weekend. The show said they would get back to them by midnight tonight for a possible 2nd audition in Minneapolis, where they live.

She's not holding her breath. She said it was an amazing experience and a lot of fun for everyone.

I think we will go to L.A. anyway ;)
