Yet NO one is talking about it. The kid is a monster and will be more affordable than Newton. Plus....Newton is a real risk. Dareus will be the pick, and I can REALLY see Newton dropping BTW....maybe to Washington. The kid is a tool.....which is why you know Lil' Dan would love to draft him. He's a tool too:laugh2:

Dareus at 1 is something I feel confident about.
PP won't go 2nd overall though.

I like this b/c it puts pressure on Arizona to take Gabbert.

Big possibility.
Biggest reason i say its possible is because Denver has suddenly started looking at other options besides Dareus.. .Like they know something we dont.

No. I've been saying for 2 months that they will take Cam Newton. Not about to back off that now.

I think they may be stubborn and wait for Kapernick, Ponder, or Mallet late 1/early 2.

And in 3yrs, they will still be looking for a franchise QB

Why would I care about that?

Maybe they want Green? Unlikely but not out of the question
Maybe they want to trade down @ that point and that's where we come in

On Nfl.com there is an article about Kaepernik going 15th overall to Miami if Locker is gone.

Why would I care about that?
I dont know that you would. But if they pick him, they'll regret it and need to replace the mistake in 3 seasons or less.

I think they would rather take the Niners package in that scenario. So they dont lose out on Quinn or whoever. Whereas I think the Browns would feel a little safer trading w/ the Cowboys.
Not too safe though..... Tennessee and STL could work out a trade and screw them....
Thats why the other day I mentioned they could do the less often used player for player trade. They take Peterson and wait to see if Jones is there at 9. If he is the Cowboys take Julio and the trade is on.
Number pick in the draft is as much about selling tickets as anything. I expect Darius to have a good carrer, better than Newton. He is not gonna get people excited to buy tickets though, and he is not going to get people to buy jerseys.

Maybe, but did you watch any Lions games last year?
I live in Atlanta and work in a sports store and we sold a ton of Suh jerseys this year.

Wouldnt you if you were them? Especially w/ the Cowboys and Texans breathing down their necks.
Just like the Dez trade last year. Go get the guy and as soon as he steps on the field you wont care what it took to trade up

......with Rivera being the coach there now, you know he's drooling over Darius. Newton is an imbecile but a talented one....reminds me so much of Demarcus Russell of the Raiders it isn't even funny.

Newton is going #1. Football isn't just about winning games, it's about marketing a product.
The Panthers already have a solid fanbase with good attendance, but they want someone who will encourage 12 year olds to talk their parents into buying their jersey. Are they going to want to wear the number of some DT or the Heisman-winning QB?
If they're going to cut a $50 million signing bonus, it's going to be for the guy lining up behind center.

.....I live in Michigan and this guy is ONE BAD MOFO. He sniffs around the pocket and the QB just bolts like a gazelle running from a Lion. I swear this young man has some Randy White in him....yeah, I said it.........

Casserly made the right decision passing Bush for Mario williams. Will Hurnley have the same stones and pass Newton for Dareus?
