OT Needs High As Draft Approaches

IRVING, Texas - This isn't the first year since Jerry Jones bought the team back in 1989 that the Cowboys have entered an NFL Draft with offensive line needs.

And this obviously isn't the first year the Cowboys have held a Top-10 pick, coming off a disappointing season.

But it very well could be the first time in the last 30 years of Cowboys football that this franchise walks away from the first round of the draft with an offensive lineman.

Never before has Howard Richards' name been mentioned as much. For it was Richards - a 26th overall pick from Missouri - who was the last offensive linemen selected in the first round by the Cowboys. While Richards was a regular starter for a few years, he's not someone who anyone thought would be getting mentioned so much three decades years later.

Even Stephen Jones, son of owner Jerry and the team's director of player personnel, said he was surprised that it has been so long....
