Solid pick. Was one of the real small school gems out there for OL.

I would've went with Cannon... He's the best Guard available... Huge physical and mean... Could have replaced Bigg Davis!

Well, we got our guard. He was projected as a 5th round selection, but seems like a solid pick.

cannon is going to have his medical issues. I am sure he will be there in the 5th round and he might not even play this year. Are we going to IR him like we did with Brewster.

I agree. At least they picked a guard, who can still replace Davis. Maybe not this year, though. Cannon would be great. Maybe his medical issue will make him slip until the 5th... then we'd have 2 good OG's something we need.

He has a form of cancer. Its unlikely he'll be ready any where near the start of the season. Arkin isnt a bad pick. He started a ton and dominated in college. Also a academic all-american.

Gosselin I think had him in the top-100. Had him as a sleeper pick in his positional rankings.
Most projections I saw had him in the 4th rd.

Not that I'm too dissapointed with the pick because I heard some great things about him! I'm definitely glad that we addressed the guard position and I think the guy could still be replacing Davis by midseason if he plays the way he did last year! It takes strength and grit to play guard and they say Arkin has it with agility so I won't complain about that! Sounds like an instant upgrade over the gentle giant Lenoard Davis...smh

Dilfer was saying he one of his favorite linemen in the draft. Believes he'll be a great starting OG in the future. Likes he tenacity, the way he keeps his feet moving and looks for a second man to hit.
That wasn't verbatim, but pretty much the synopsis.

Trent said that he was a small school gem, who he thinks is one of the best lineman in the draft! He said that he's a nasty kid with a mean streak, who is fluid from his hips, has a good bend(whatever that meant) and gets to the second level! He said that he can see this kid as a big time guard!

Thanks. I didn't know anything about him. Sounds like a nice pick and we need a guard.

Listening to Spagnola right now. He said he passed by Jerry Jones in the hall and said "where did you unearth that guy?"
Jerry said "we've been tracking that guy for a long time..."

Nice. They showed some clips of him on NFLN and he was destroying people, albeit at a small-school level.

Yeah, he's 23-years old and will continue to grow into his body; 310-320 is a realistic possibility the over the next season or two.
Keep in mind that Kosier is currently listed at 6'5" 309 lbs, not much of a difference.

The more I read on this kid, the more this reminds me of Doug Free. I don't see Arkin moving to OT, but he sounds like a similiar type player. Spagnola said that the Cowboys' brass was saying he "Kosier-like" in his mentality, which IMO is a great thing.

Plus, he isn't a slow, heavy footed player, either. (see Robert Buster)
Jason Garrett is taking this offensive line in the strong, athletic direction. I'm glad, really glad.
I just wish this guy could play now, because I'm very, very concerned about Dallas' interior. It could be the difference in winning and losing, imo.

i know i hope they lift the lockout so we can get these kids in camp and get them to work asap. Get them with the strength trainer and get these kids ready for the season. Let them duke it out in training camp, may the best man win.

Which is strange because when Brewster came out, all they could say was how great his feet were. It puzzled me then and still puzzles me now why they were stuck on playing him at OT.
Unless the kid has characther concerns we don't hear about (laziness, want-to, intelligence), I don't know why they don't put him inside at OG. It seems like an obvious fit for his skill-set.

I wonder if Dallas will sign an OG in free agency. I wouldn't be upset. Perhaps, they can find another Kosier type steal.
I think Marcus Gilbert would have looked really good at RG. Steelers took him. I like DeMarcus Love as a kick inside guy, but he needs work. He's been moved around so much.
I look for a WR (Moore from Tennessee may be a sleeper). Garrett was in Knoxville. I wouldn't be one bit surprised to see another RB drafted in a deep RB draft.

This round (4th) started off on the wrong foot for me. The first pick was Brandon Hogan, a guy I really liked as a 4th round pick. Then I got anxious about Edmund Gates slipping down to us at our pick in the 4th. We then take David Arkin, and I'm like, who? Before I have time to research and digest that, the Dolphins who were picking right after us submit their pick immediately and grab Edmund Gates. Consternation to say the least.
There is still a lot of talent on the board, especially at the WR position... Dwayne Harris, Jeremy Kerley, Ronald Johnson (a favorite of mine), Denarious Moore, just to name a few.

I like the pick on paper. Good feet, good motor, smart and nasty. Could be a bit bigger but at 305-310 he should be ok.

Feel better with all the new info on him. Arkin is also the reason they didn't go G in the 3rd. They had him targeted in the 4th the whole time.

Davis is the only liability left. And there's always FA.

Based off of what Jerry was saying in the Day (or 2) press conference, I really get the sneaky suspicion that Dallas is going to try to eek one more year out of Bigg.

You're wrong about that. I know for a fact that Missouri State has on site four Bow-Flex machines, at least a dozen Shake Weights, and they're currently picking up an eliptical off of craigslist.
He has no excuse.

I know exactly what you mean. I want one to replace Roy Williams. I wanted Mario Manningham one year. When the Cowboys passed on Witten in round 2, I was in utter disbelief. Moore just went to the Raiders.
You need OL in the pipeline, and I"m glad they addressed it. Plus, Arkin is the athletic type of offensive linemen that I have called for. However, if he isn't ready to play, I think the Cowboys need a guard in free agency. I don't like the idea of that old interior line run blocking or pass blocking.
How is this interior going to block the Lions inside. That is just one example. They couldn't run block the middle of the pack run defenses last year, and two of them are in our division. They couldn't run block the Saints or the Packers or the Bears. I could go on....
DeMarcus Love is still out there, I think.

He plays LG in the first series, RG in the 2nd and then LG again in the last series of the game. He got at least 2 shoutouts from Mayock and co in that span.

Giants were top 10 in rush defense, but Philadelphia and New Orleans were middle of the pack. Bears were number 2, and they destroyed Dallas' offensive line. Jaguars and Lions were rated in the 20s, and Dallas couldn't run block them. Packers were middle of the "pack". :) Vikings was ugly.
I wish they had a guy who could step in at center if something happens to Gurode. They have been living lucky in that regard. Remember Cory Proctor playing center in Carolina and at Washington. That wasn't pretty.

There's definitely some bad with the good; he has a problem a few times getting stood up and pushed back. He's definitely a competitor and won some battle in there.
