I'm not into mma, but I know who GSP is, my question is, does this shields guy have the slightest chance to beat him? I only really know of GSP and silva, I'd prob watch that fight!

I believe Shields does have a shot...but I don't think he'll get it done. I think Shields is a very good fighter.
GSP just happens to have no equal, right now, at 170. At least IMO.
I can't wait for this fight tonight.

Im glad they didnt fabricate any bs rivalry for this one. Just two great fighters going at it(giggidy)
This one has 5 round unanimous decision written all over it
Looking forward to Couture/Machida, but that's really it on this card.
Next couple of cards looks a lot better

Forget both of those fights mentioned, the real fight will be Jose Aldo vs Mark Hominick.
If anyone hasn't seen Aldo fight, you are in for a treat. Quick reminder of what Aldo did to Urijah Faber's leg ..

GSP vs Shields - I actually think this fight is closer than people, especially the folks in Vegas, are thinking it is. Shields is someone who is hardly ever given the respect he does as he steps up in competition in every fight, but somehow he always prevails.
The Hendo fight he was an overwhelming underdog, but yet he took a HARD punch from Hendo, and recovered. He went on to take down the former Olympian time, after time, after time, and just dominate him on the mat.
GSP on the other hand is one of the most complete fighters in the sport. If GSP had the one punch stopping power, he would without question be a complete fighter. But for now, GSP is a good striker, with great wrestling, and a grind-it-out mentality.
Can GSP keep this fight off the mat? Shields has taken down bigger and stronger wrestlers than GSP before. But GSP's athleticism is unmatched by anyone Shields has faced before.
Big IFs to this fight - IF Shields comes to the fight in-shape and can take GSP down, he will win this fight.
IF GSP keeps the fight standing, he will brutalize Shields on the feet. Saying that Shields has horrible standup would be an understatement. It's sad watching someone who has been in the sport as long as Shields be so deficient as a striker.
Couture vs Machida - This fight is a matter of my heart vs my head.
My head tells me that Couture will be the classic Randy. He will close the distance, push Machida against the cage, and just grind on him like he has done to so many people in his career.
One thing I noticed from a Randy training video is that he sparred against someone who mimicked Machida's backing away style when someone tries to close the distance. From that clip, you saw Randy never tried to chase his partner. If he couldn't get in immediately, he stopped, reset and went back to his gameplan.
But my heart tells me Machida. The fighter who once looked untouchable may literally have his back against the wall tonight. Coming off 2 defeats, looking bad in both fights, and he's given another opportunity to prove he is still the same fighter who dominated guys like Thiago Silva and Rashad Evans.
The one thing I am sure of more than anything - Team Black House will absolutely have Machida mentally and physically ready for what Randy wants to do.
I'm going with my heart and will say Machida will somehow find a way like the Machida of old.

He's Norwegian hence the interest here in Norway for that fight

Einemo is a BJJ ace. One of the best heavyweight MMA fighters in the world in that regard. Not a young guy either, mid-to-later 30s, IIRC.
I think I read he is training his striking at Golden Glory now with Alistair, Schilt, Kharitonov and those guys. If he is, JOE is gonna get a crash course in Muay Thai striking so he can be ready for the anvils that are Shane Carwin's fists.

When is the last time GSP finished a fight? Small chance especially with the Shields matchup, but if it happens tonight 55,000 and I will love it

Steven Seagal strikes again!
Saw Seagal yesterday with Machida during the weigh-ins, and I will guarantee Machida will give Seagal credit for that kick.

Aldo looks like he came into this fight not in the right shape. Difference in the bounce in his step between round 1 and round 2 is HUGE.
Wish we could see the Aldo with the cardio from the Faber title fight rather than this version.

Somewhere even Hasim Rahman is impressed by that thing on the side of Hominick's head.

Incredible fight!
I think Aldo was outstruck in the fight, but will win due to hurting and dropping Hominick.
I'm guessing 48-47

Did I hear a 50-43 in favor or Aldo, or are my ears jacked? What in the world .. ?
But a gassed Aldo, fighting flat footed with hardly any movement against Hominick, who is one of the better boxers in MMA, and Aldo finds a way.
It's not impressive he came in out of shape, but it's impressive as heck he found a way to still win this fight.

Pretty good card, IMO.
Loved the Aldo vs. Hominick fight, as I knew I would. So entertaining.
Sad to see Randy gets KO'd in his last fight but I sort of figured that is what would happen. Good win for Machida.
I'm sure plenty of people hated the ME but i enjoyed it. I love watching GSP out think, and out gameplan, his opponents. I knew when Jake didn't even come close to being able to take him down on the shots he took that he had absolutely zero shot of winning.
LOVED watching Diaz get bounced around like a rag doll in the prelims. I hate that guy so anyone punking him out makes me smile.

The hardest strike to see is always the one that comes right down the middle of your face. Your brain and eyes are always slow to react, and in Couture's case, he just happened to get with a vicious Crane Kick ..
