Going in the draft boys needs were as follow :

OT, FS, CB, K, DE, AND KR..

Out of those need positions cowboys only address one which was Smith. Because the boys did not address those positions I give them a D+.

OT-tyron Smith
FS and Cb-weak class. Once Williams was drafted no value was left. Expect Huff to be signed plus a free agent corner to compete with Scandrick.
K-No one really drafts a kicker plus the best one was taken in the forth. probably address in free agency or go with what we have.
DE-I think Bowen comes back.
KR-we did draft one, his name is Demarco Murray.

Those are offseason needs. When free agency begins some of those positions will be addressed then.

As for the draft, we clearly got a solid B. BTW we did address OT, CB and KR. We weren't going to draft a kicker (please!) and a ILB was needed and we addressed that also. Since Barber (and likely Choice) are gone there was a RB need and we addressed that also. So I guess I don't get your rant at all.

The Cowboys try to draft BPA, with free agency after the draft they were able to that more so than in years past.

The Eagles drafted a phenomenal kicker yesterday, that kid is money from long distances and he's a great punter too,,, major rue-age that we didn't take him for years to come!

Gosselin didnt even think he'd be drafted, neither did Mayock so it wasnt that great.

look up the top 5 kickers of 2010 in the NFL. Only one was drafted and he is on his third team now after being released from the other two.
So drafting a kicker is kind of a waste. We spent two draft picks on kickers already, Folk and Buehler.
Kai Forbeth is a UDFA which I would like to sign once we are able to to give Beuhler some competition.

The Cowboys have many needs, including an upgrade at running back and new blood at the linebacker position. They should have got some DL help in this deep draft class rather than try to do it in FA, but any way you slice it the Cowboys did draft needed positions.

Yeah but they used a forth round pick on one had we done that this board would have gone crazy.

That is surprising because Henery is the best college kicker I've ever seen,,,, very impressive. Maybe Gosselin/ Mayock just don't do kickers.

The only thing we can hope for is a that the kid has a Folk-esque mental meltdown or some freak toe-caught-in-the-shower-drain accident.

Gosselin had alot of kickers rated above Henery. So did some of the other draft guides that I saw.

and yet Henery, the most accurate field-goal kicker in NCAA history, was the first kicker drafted,,, sounds fishy,,,

have no idea why, but when Gossselin did his position rankings Henery wasnt listed as K or P

and several other guides didnt have him as the #1 guy either

lastly, if NFL success for a kicker was predicated on accuracy in college, finding kickers would be simple for all the teams...

First thought was pickers seem to make 99% of the fg attempts against us anyways. So it doesn't matter if he was the least accurate kicker in NFL history lol.

Second thought is Bruce carter was a fg blocking phenom

don't know why you are such a contrary individual but, bottom line, I say this kid is going to be excellent based on the eye test, his leg strength, and the fact that he is the most accurate field-goal kicker in NCAA history. Apparently the Eagles think so too. We will see,,,

What are you talking about? I mean, in the 2000 draft the 'boys NEEDED CB's and they drafted 3 that year. They got themselves Dwayne Goodrich, Kareem Larrimore and Mario Edwards. Seriously look at that list of HOFers right ther....... er...wait....

Yeah, drafting for need MAY not be the best route to go. ;)

Who Goose didn't even have listed on his kicker or punter rankings.

Bottom line, we burned draft picks on Folk and Buehler recently and with our needs, we weren't going to draft one this year.

In two years there could be 5 starters:

Smith
Carter
Murray
Arkin
Chapas

We only had 8 picks.

The Cowboys have drafted for need in the past....his name was Shante Carver!

People on this board have complained for years that Jerry should quit reaching for players in the draft and take the BPA. The Cowboys did exactly that the last 2 drafts, and yet some people complain that the Cowboys should now draft for need.

I for one am very happy with this draft.

wonder why alot of people(media) say we had one of the best draft (saw on ESPN:starspin )
-McShay loved the Arkin pick, and said he will be a solid starter
-Kiper loved the harris pick said he was a steal at that spot and will make the team.
-Mayock(sp?) loved the bruce carter pick, top 15 without injury, will be a starter in this league

of course they all loved the Tyron smith pick.
