IRVING, Texas - The first time Jerry Jones really got to address the 2011 NFL Draft occurred back in late January, down at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.

That's when he was first asked to speculate the position or two that might need the most upgrade through the draft.

"You look at numbers, you've got five positions on the offensive line and certainly that gives you a chance to address that area because of the numbers of players that you play in that unit," Jones said back on Jan. 24. "But I think we look at, and it doesn't surprise me that we still could have a need in the offensive line because of just that."

Whether he credited the reasons to mere numbers or a lack of talent - or a combination of both - Jones at least said back then that offensive line was a need. When asked by reporters nearly a month later at the Scouting Combine in February, Jones again said offensive line, because of the numbers at the position.

Regardless of the reasoning, Jones and the Cowboys stuck to those theories once the draft arrived last weekend. The club selected three offensive linemen - spacing them out in the first, fourth and seventh rounds - taking an offensive tackle, a guard and a center...
