Hudson's Bill Nagy admitted to being a football player of few words during the telephone call of a lifetime. Last Saturday, in the waning minutes of the NFL Draft, Nagy was selected in the seventh round by the Dallas Cowboys.

Just moments before, while sitting with family and friends in his Hudson home, Nagy had gotten the official word directly from the high-profile owner of the Cowboys.

''The first guy I got to speak with was Jerry Jones. It was exciting,'' said Nagy, a four-year letterman at the University of Wisconsin as an offensive lineman. ''He introduced himself and congratulated me. Quite honestly, I was kind of speechless.''

Nagy, a two-time all-state selection at Hudson High School under coach Tom Narducci, was essentially ''on the bubble'' in the draft. He was expected to be a late pick or a free-agent signee after the draft.

Most interesting part of this article is the part where they think of him as a center. It will take Nagy a while to develop but you have to wonder if they are already thinking of moving Gurode to guard eventually if they draft a guy like Nagy.

I just hope he makes it. Lately picking and developing O Linemen has been a struggle. Hopefully, worst case he develops as a jumbo blocking TE.

I thinking that they are thinking cutting Gurode

hes no good any more - he would an should have been cut in 03 an we should have drafted Mangold instead Big Bill wants his linebacker Bobbbie Carp

well maybe we wise up an draft Brewster next year

ummmm. No!

Gurode only had one year's experience in 03 and he was getting better.

As much as this OL needs quality players, they surely aren't going to let Gurode go, who has been one of the steady players on this line. He isn't a world beater, but he has made pro bowls.

Furthermore, you would have to check with Adam, but I don't think his salary is prohibitively expensive. You want to see bloated lineman salary?? .. think Bigg!

Seems to me that Garrett is saying Nagy might end up at guard despite being a considered a center.

He was ranked as the 27th best center in the draft by NFLDraftScout.com and was listed as a center by the Cowboys. But he said Garrett told him that he could also be used at guard, which was fine with him.

''The positions are similar and I told the Cowboys I am comfortable with both of them,'' Nagy said. ''Wherever they need me, I will compete at.''

Being able to play two positions on the OL will help guys make the team. Makes it easier on the coaches come game day figuring out how many to suit out.

The words 'might' and 'could' are being used, so he will probably be expected to learn both center and guard, and see where the cards fall. He is a 7th round pick, so we gotta see if he can even make the roster first.

I am not talking this year

2/20/2007: Signed a six-year, $30 million contract. The deal included a $10 million signing bonus. 2011: $5.5 million, 2012: $6.5 million, 2013: Free Agent

Not sure if the kid is going to workout but you ca't go wrong with a lineman from Wisconsin.

Gurode won't be moving to guard.

He'll be moving off the team period.

Not 2011, but maybe a year from now.

I don't see the selection of Nagy as any type of indicator that Gurode will be gone anytime soon.

Dallas is trying to strengthen the line not create another hole in the line.

Nagy ability to play guard as well as center only increases the strength of the line and with Davis at the end of his career the uncertainty of Kosier I would seriously doubt Gurode is about to be replaced

I'm just curious but why do you guys think a 7th rounder will push a guy like Gurode off the team? Shouldn't we just sit back and hope the guy makes the team as a backup? Baby steps people.

Dallas just needs competition in training camp and preseason to push the aging OL's to player at a higher level. If the OL youngsters beat out a Vet (which I doubt but it could happen) because they're MORE explosiv & mobile, then they should start and you'll see someone get cut (both Bigg or Gurode make mega millions) so Jerry can sign both Doug Free and Tyron Smith to big contracts. At the minimum, you'll see Tyron Smith replace Mark Columbo because Tyron is highly mobile, quick, and more explosive that Mark. I have a sneaking suspicion that David Arkin starts at OG (and Kosier is resigned to Vet minimum to backup Arkin or he's allowed to leave and sign elsewhere) and Bigg resigns for less money (if he doesn't want to be cut). Dallas will probably NOT want more than two rookies starting on the OL this year. If Bigg returns to form, I suspect he'll start at Right Guard with Tyron Smith at Right Tackle. If Bigg is cut, they may move Gurode to Right Guard and try Phil Costa or Bill Nagy at Center. That'll leave Doug Free at Left Tackle with David Arkin at Left Guard and Gurode at Center (if Bigg resigns for less money) with Nagy playing in JUMBO Packages to get some playing time and NFL game experience. Nagy also has good soft hands for a lineman for don't be surprised if he's involved on Goal Line packages as a 2nd TE. In any event, I'm excited to see changes made to the OL since collectively they had a horrible year in 2010.
