The "limited commercial interruption" edition of Wrestling on Thursday, June 30 scored a 1.27 rating off a first hour 1.25 rating and a second hour 1.30 rating.
Impact's peak rating came in the eighth quarter-hour with a 1.36 rating. The show opened with a 1.23 rating in the first quarter-hour. It continued a trend from nine out of the last ten episodes - the Q1 rating falling below the overall show average.
Benefiting from "limited commercial interruptions," each quarter-hour was above its corresponding 2011 average. The most notable gain was in Q8 - the 1.36 rating was eleven percent above the 2011 average of a 1.22 Q8 rating.

There are no iconic wrestlers. Seriously Cena is their go to guy...
Everyones gimmick is basically the same. Not a lot of charisma swirling around these days.
Plus there is no shock value anymore because the show is for little kids.
Wrestling sucks. Their storylines suck and their talent is awful.

TNA is radically different every week, but its in a bad way. They drop storylines for no good reason and start no-sense ones for no reason either. Remember Samoa Joe got kidnapped and then 3 weeks later he was back with no mention of it?
Just look at the WWE title and TNA title pictures:
This year WWE's legit contenders for the title have been:
John Cena & The Miz.
This year TNA's legit contenders for the title have been:
Jeff Hardy, Sting, Mr.Anderson, RVD.

I watch Raw every week. However Monday night I was shooting off fireworks with my family and missed the entire show. I'm betting there were many who did the same thing.
They could have had a topless diva's match and I would have stayed outside. Trust me that is saying something.

That is hilarious.
Raw can have a pre-taped show, that everyone already read the spoilers on a week before, on a holiday that is known as being family oriented.
And still do over double the rating of TNA.

I dunno..to me this is a really simple issue. If you don't like pro wrestling do not watch! And yet posters come on here..they hate it and yet they know the wrestlers names..know about matches. Makes no sense. Don't watch it. Why waste your time?and then waste more time coming to a wrestling thread telling everyone how much you hate it...

You folks are wasting your time on the numbers with the kid. Some kids on a wrestling website told him there is never more than 3-4k there so it's absolutely 100% the truth with him.
Never mind that several people here have mentioned how that hasn't been the case at any of the house shows they've gone to.
I highly doubt anyone sells out all their house shows, or ever even did on a weekly basis even when it was hot (though I could easily be wrong about that) cause they're house shows.
They're not intended to draw 25k every show.

John Cena loses his title to CM punk, but before CM punk can get out of the ring, winner of the money in the bank ladder match comes out with the briefcase and wins back the WWE title.
CM punk gets his win, John Cena doesn't get fired cause CM punk didn't leave with the title, and we get a new WWE champion for however long.

Punk has always been great on the mic.. he's not stepping his game up, his game has always been at a top level. The only differenced is the leeway he's being given by the creative dept now. He can say and do things he wasn't previously allowed to do.

Punk could have been doing that for years if they would have given him more leeway with what he was allowed to do and say.

Yes, actually. I've stated numerous good things about TNA, which im sure you won't debate.
As for the WWE, i've stated my interest in their production value being vastly superior, the in ring talents that i enjoy that are up and coming, including Zig, Sheamus, McIntyre, and Swagger. The old school guys that are still there that are my favorites of all time HHH and Stone Cold (when they are on). Guys like Punk, even said Del Rio has grown on me a little.
However, the WWE still does alot of things badly right now. Repetition being the biggest problem. The creative dept is severly lacking, and it probably has alot to do with the amount of freedom they have in coming up with logical wrestling fueds.. because they have to stay PG and avoid any mention of wrestling or sports. Some of that is just silly. For the past month or two, smackdown has been a repeat of itself over and over again. Same matches, same order, same results for the most part.. with the main event usually changing slightly, but including the same cast of characters.
There are clearly problems with both companies right now, but as with both shows i DVR and skim through to the parts that are watchable.

He has been given the freedom to state facts, and it's getting over huge. That's what I said.

You make me laugh R2A...perhaps what should be said is that Punk is a consumate actor...an excellent wrestler...& this storyline conceived months ago has made the product fun to watch. And again he is doing what they tell him to do...it is scripted! There is no personal freedom here...he's TOLD what to say. This is acting. You don't seem to get that.

No. Punk is given creative freedom, he is given points to hit and hits them.
Former Creative team member John Piermarini has said that multiple times, along with people such as Orton, Cena, HHH, Etc; Punk has been given the privilege to write his own scripts, he has to hit a few points that creative directs him too, and then run it by an agent and then you hear what came from Punks mind, not a member of the creative team. That's how it works with pretty much every top guy.
Is it acting? Yes, for most of the "entertainers" in WWE, sadly..

What are you saying here, bro?
This is all a big angle by and for the WWE through Vince McMahon.

Cool stars bro.
Is this still a message board? Oh so we can discuss the topic then.
Punk has always been great on the mic.. he's not stepping his game up, his game has always been at a top level. The only differenced is the leeway he's being given by the creative dept now. He can say and do things he wasn't previously allowed to do.
I agree with you here. Punk has ALWAYS been amazing on the mic when he's given the freedom to work the storyline anyway he'd like and such.
Go watch some Punk in the Indy's and ROH and you'll see tons of great promo work where he's got his total control of what he's doing and how they're going to work their angles.
I do think he's stepping up though from even the greatness that he normally has to another level because he's being allowed to let go here. Which is awesome. I am a huge Punk fan, have been for years, and it's absolutely great to see him getting to let go right now. Love it.

Of course i do, why would I not?
Dont think you understand what i meant though, of course its an angle, but its not 100% scripted. Punk has been given creative freedom on the mic, he has had it since summer 09 fued w J.Hardy

The 7/11 edition of Raw did a 2.9 rating, with 4,386,000 viewers

Seems like they're setting him up for a face turn, they would not show this much commitment to him unless they feel really good about getting him to re-sign. If he was dead set on leaving for good they would not go trough all this build up. My guess is he'll sign a new deal but take a break for a while. Probably show up again at the royal rumble or something, that seems to be where they have people return

Exactly what i think, i bet they have an agreement he cant work for TNA or mexico companys, but can for ROH and japan companys. #30 at the rumble, and whc or wwe title shot at mania is what i expect aswell

R2A is actually right.. he isn't told what to say.. just what topics he's not allowed to touch most likely. Its not like they give him a script to memorize though.

Agreed. The top guys are given what they call bullet or flash points. Things the creative want them to touch on, for feud and character purposes, but guys like Punk are given creative freedom to word and call the promo how they want to.
Austin, Rock, Foley, HHH, HBK, Taker, Jericho all the guys like that have had that ability. It's part of being a top guy. They're given a very basic outline of "Hey we'd like you to hit on these 3 topics. No go get them." and the superstars themselves just do their promos.

Face turn to face who?
There's not a heel to rival him unless they get Orton to turn again.
I think he'll stay heel long enough to get Austin or Undertaker at Wrestlemania.

Would not be shocked to see Punk win...Vince come out in a rage to "fire" Cena...and it ends up being a Punk/Vince plot to get the belt. They could write it any number of ways but we already know Vince will be involved.

I HOPE it goes
Punk wins, mitb winner cashes in and loses, Punk says only way he will defend title is for a shot at WHC, Punk v. Orton set for WM. With punk not in a match until then but doing vingettes
Imagine the buyrate, new undisputed championship & rock returning taker 20-0 etc, could top 1.25m buys
Most likely if they go this way itd be for summerslam and Orton would win though

As I said before Vince will be a part of whatever happens. I have already purchased the PPV...will see what happens. Orton & Punk were in the last WM...I personally would rather see a different match but they were awesome. I use to not like Orton & he is now one of my favorites.

That's still down from the year-to-date average, which is frightening that they may pull back on this angle because of it.
