It depends on what is available near the loose fender. As long as the cord is taunt you can set the hooks at the end of the cord at something and it should hold. Maybe you can wrap it around the fender until you have just enough cord left to pull and set the hooks on something.
What kind of car do you drive? Maybe that will help.

Zip ties might work if there's an existing bolt hole or something that's loose, just use zip tie in place of a bolt until you can fix it properly. It's really hard to give any good advice without seeing the problem yourself.

Give me a sec and I'll get a pic.. Gotta walk to the parking lot.

What is your biggest concern about driving home with it like that? is it rattling in the wind? are you thinking the wind is going to catch it and pull it off further?

Yes. Before I got on the road, only the bent part was off. Somehow between the two locations, it started hanging off further. And it's only looking like that now, because I kicked it back in place. It's close to hanging off as far back as the tail light.

If you can get a piece of wood inside that fender wall and duct tape all the way around it, it will easily get you home. A couple of paint stir sticks might work just fine.

I've used this before for a similar problem with the plastic splash guard under the fender of a car I used to drive. Might double or triple them up if you've got room.

Are you traveling tonight or in the morning? If you are traveling in the morning I am pretty sure you can use a zip tie to hold it in place. If you can find someone who can get on their back and look under the bumper, they might be able to just snap it back on and run a zip tie through the screw hole that has come off. I say this because I had the same thing happen to my 95 Accord. It's a fairly easy fix once someone can look under there and see the snap-on part and screw hole.

I'm leaving in the morning... and it'll be me doing the under the car stuff. It's no big deal to jack it up. I just wanna be sure of what to look for when I do it.
I don't know if you can tell, but on the part that's bent, the snap-on is broken. I'll take a closer look at it before I go to Walmart in the a.m. and figure out which solution works best.

I'm thinking once you have the top edge of the plastic bumper aligned under the bottom edge of the metal quarter panel in its natural position then the hole from the missing screw should be aligned and you'll be able to just run a zip tie through the hole.

+1 on using Zip Ties. But honestly, that bumper cover is attached all the way around the back of your car and around the other side, so it will stay on for you on your way home even if you just leave it like that.

So I bought some industrial strength duct tape and the zip ties. The heat was a bit of a deterent against trying the zip ties, plus I bought the wrong size zip ties. So I duct taped the hell out of it.
Hitting the road in a few. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and Hos for calling. :)

I bought it that way. Cheap cash car with some pre-existing damage to it.
I'd taken it to a shop to fix it, and they suggested replacing the whole bumper cuz the other fender had similar damage. I chose to have them to do a quick fix to it. This is the only one that didn't take.

Maybe if you take it back to where they fixed it the first time, they will repair it right this time?

Well, if you are not real vain, that duct tape will last a long time just the way it is. I've seen worse than that.

Well, not about this car. It was cheap and gets great gas mileage. But because of funds, I may have to drive it like that for a couple of weeks, at least.
