If you’ve been halfway following the recent lockout news, I would say there are some reasons for optimism here this week. It does seem like the full-court press is on from both sides.
And one of the sticking points has been this proposal by the owners to give all NFL teams the chance to sign three of their own free agents, giving the clubs right-of-first refusal. Basically, it’s the owners’ contingency plan for allowing players to become free agents after four years. They want ROFR on all free agents entering their fifth and sixth seasons. In other words, they’re not unrestricted free agents any more, but rather restricted.
That seems to be a pretty big sticking point by the players, who have reportedly rejected that offer each time it hits the table...

I side with the players generally, but hope the owners get the right of first refusal on at least two of their own free agents.

I'd rather not see Sensabaugh return, especially at his over-inflated asking price.
And since when is being mediocre at two positions seen as versatility?

I agree. It seems his legend has grown the longer football has been out of everyone's minds.
At the end of the season, when was it written he is going to command big money on the free agent market? Recently it has been said he is going to command a huge deal.
For what? People overglorifying his INT total? It certainly cannot be for his prolonged consistent excellence as a Cowboy. He was average, sometimes downright mediocre. But I would not worry about losing him for a second.
There are better free agents available and if I am spending money on them, he's going to the back of the line because I already know he can be upgraded.

Maybe the grass is always greener, but I dont know if Elam or Dawan Landry are soft, lazy, quitters like I know Sensabaugh is. Sensabaugh is not a guy you lock up long-tern

I don't get all this Gerald Sensabaugh hype, either. I'd let him walk and wouldn't think twice about it. I wouldn't want to match any offer. Dallas can do better at both safety spots, especially in this market. The Cowboys don't "need" Gerald Sensabaugh. In fact, I hope he goes to Houston and takes Igor Olshansky with him.
I do agree with two of his guys, though.
1. Doug Free
2. Stephen Bowen
3. Marcus Spears
I'd put Marcus Spears on this list and not Jason Hatcher.
I don't get all this "need" to resign Kyle Kosier, either, but I wouldn't be against it, especially if Leonard Davis is sent packing. The Cowboys should sign a guard like Leroy Harris or Chris Chester or David Bass if they don't go for someone like Marshall Yanda. Signing Kosier and at least one of those young, athletic guards would be a wise idea, imo. I'd cut and replace Leonard Davis and not think twice about it.

The problem with releasing Leonard Davis is it may cost more on the cap to keep him versus cut him.
I don't know the terms of FRoR, but there's still a very solid chance that Jerry can't meet any of those best offers. Wouldn't be such a bad thing if the Cowboys are compensated picks, but that would be RFA by another name and I think its pretty well set that UFA is to be set at 5 years.

Offensive line is the single most important thing for this offseason. If Romo doesn't sta healthy we do not have a shot. I dont want to have all new olinemen
