DeSean Jackson holdout could be coming
Posted by Mike Florio on July 26, 2011, 1:22 PM EDT
Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson is entering the final year of his rookie contract. He has never held out, despite being grossly underpaid.
That may be changing.
A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that Jackson is considering his options. And one of those options would be not showing up for camp.

I predict the eagles will pay him and someone will finally hit him hard enough and his career will be over the same year.

The Eagles deserve it. They should have been willing to talk an extension this offseason. The guy is the focal point of their offense and he's making peanuts compared to his peers.
This is why Dallas (Miles Austin) has a good reputation amongst the NFL players and Philadelphia (DeSean Jackson) doesn't.

why do the Eagles deserve it? They make sound finacial agreements and they are competitive. Should they be crutitinized because they make better arrangements.?
Does it matter which player has the better reputation because it sure doesnt equate to TDs?
PLayers and fans, should realize which team they are either drafted to or choose to follow, are about.
I dont see these guys crying when they are drafted by any team, cept Eli and i dont see them complaining when they sign the contract.
Its not Phillys fault they have a system that does them well. Keep in mind and im not trying to give you an opinion, but keep in mind Philly doesnt play for the Sb, they play to make money.
You got all these mediots having the fans buy into this concept that the sport has gone buisiness, okay and if thats true, than you have to run it like a business and Philly does that. The skins do that, all the teams do that, but it works out well for Philly when it comes to having money on hand. I dont begrudge them because it works for them, but the players have to realize this when get drafted by these teams and Desean, much like fans didnt realize this and thought he was better and thinks hes the best and he thinks hes bigger than the team. Philly tells the players, you arent bigger than us, and it works for them. You can either see this or choose not to, but they will keep doing it.

He did too much last year not to be signed to a longer deal

I respect Philly's system but let's not act like they've won something. I'm all for making prudent financial decisions but sometimes you have to take care of your own. DeSean Jackson may be their best player. And he's young enough to warrant another deal.
I just don't see the point in this particular situation to create any ill will. Mind you, it's not that the Eagles haven't come to a new agreement with him, they won't even discuss another contract. To me, that's disrespectful to one of your key core players and I do believe the players around the league take notice of things like that.

you can believe what you want to believe no one is taking that from you, but if you are going to say that than the eagles are going to remind DeSean, we believe what we believe and we believe you arent getting paid from us. And if they do, good for them.

I'll say this.....I never thought they would let the TO situation go as far as it did, so you really never know with the eagles. they certainly have the precedent for playing hard ball, even with top players. I would be more than shocked if they allowed this situation to blow up, but anything can happen with that organization. especially if they for any reason think he might want to test FA at year's end anyway.
I really hope he does play though. I'm thinking this is going to be the year that someone cleans his clock for all the hot dogging he does.
