Randy moss 2.0 he's going to go crazy this year then fail after that
VERY interesting.
There is something to be said for being an organization that can turn other teams malcontents into contributors for your team. Easier said than done.
Raiders used to be good at it. Belichek made it work with Moss (mostly). Jerry has tried as well.

But if the Cowboys go out and get both these guys Jerry is a complete idiot and is just running a circus.

Belichick must be losing his touch without Pioli.
He's going for more "shock and awe" value than actually adding great talent.
Chad Johnson is not an elite football player anymore. If he did not run his mouth as much as does, nobody would be that impressed by his play.

Let's see if ESPN and NFLN will continue their worshiping of the genius of Bellicheck and the Patriots organization. I couldn't help but think to myself how if any other team had traded for Haynesworth, all of these analysts would have talked about it being a bad move and that it would cause disruption...But since it's the Pats...it was genius and they are now in the running for a Super Bowl!
Now they have compounded the drama by adding the king of self promotion himself, OchoCinco. Yes, mister there is no "team" in "I" will now be paired with the bad-attitude, big pay-day quitter. How will the media spin this to make Bellicheck and the Patriots' team-first, uber-disciplined reputation look even better? Stay tuned...

The Patriots have a track record of taming idiots. Not to mention the means by which they get them is a complete joke. Trading away minimal picks for high rewards. It's genius because they have done it in the past and if it fails this time, they just cut the guy and move on.
Now they have compounded the drama by adding the king of self promotion himself, OchoCinco. Yes, mister there is no "team" in "I" will now be paired with the bad-attitude, big pay-day quitter. They won't have to spin anything. Everyone knows the score. You either fall in line or get out. That's why they are "team-first". When you have that attitude, you can take a little risk as long as you stick to your guns and pull the trigger when someone steps out of line.

Anyone think the Pats are making this moves, in part, because of the shortened ready time until kickoff?
You sign a guy in March he has all offseason to jerk around and project any sort of piss poor attitude to the rest of the team.
You sign a guy now, he's gonna be too busy getting ready to play and not comfortable enough with the team to actually develop any sort of bad habits.
I mean, you let Albert fat-*** on your team all offseason he's gonna get comfy with the guys out there and he'll be a big pile of crap by the time camp roles around. But, bringing him in now he can't focus on anything but integrating and running from his reputation as a slob.
I really don't think the Pats would have made this moves under a normal year. I think they are using the shortened preparation time to their advantage by bringing in guys nobody would really want to touch.

Because they were the second winningest football franchise for the past decade, winners of three Super Bowls, annually in the playoffs year-in-year out, masters of the draft, et cetera.

No, I said he wasn't a scumbag, which I equate more with morality and living a life in line with dregs of society - hurting people, legal trouble, drugs etc.
I didn't say anything about him not being a jackarse, which I equate more with being a a nuisance and a headcase - and sometimes maybe even a jerk.

Patriots. The litmus test for all NFL teams.
2007 they went 16-0, then lost the Super Bowl.
2008, they lost Brady, still finished 11-5, but missed the playoffs.
2009, they finished 10-6 and lost in the 1st round of the playoffs.
2010, they finished 14-2 and lost in the 1st round of the playoffs.
No doubt about it, the New England Patriots are the best run organization in the NFL right now. No hyperbole. No exaggeration. That is a top notch team. They have missed the playoffs and lost 3 straight post season games.
I keep hoping that some people will realize that winning in the post season is not a birthright. That the other teams you face are good. That even better teams lose. That losing can compile itself.
Will the Patriots suffer 14 straight years like we did? I can't answer that and no one else can either. But anyone who thinks they are a mark is out of their ever loving mind.
When will we win our 6th Lombardi Trophy? When fate shines on us, the stars align, and it is meant to be, and not one second, minute, hour, day, week, month, or season sooner.
I'm sorry, but that is the cold hard truth. Winning a Super Bowl is monumental task, not a walk in the park for a good team.

Yeah, there's no doubt they've earned their stripes...They are definitely the blueprint for how to run a successful team in the new millennium. No one can deny their success...period.
I do get sick of the media's swooning over them at times though...especially when their bias is so obvious. Like I said in my earlier post, Haynesworth would be seen as a red flag anywhere else...but with NE he makes them a SB contender? I just don't buy it.
I do think that if any team can turn him around it's them, but for the media to act as if his redemption is guaranteed now that he's in NE is crazy. I really have no problem with OchoCinco as a player, but I don't think he will quietly play the background just because he is now a Patriot either. Bellicheck and Co. will definitely have their work cut out for them in maintaining their identity now that they have these two.

Ochocinco is a good dude actually... Great move by the Pats, he's still got a few very good years left in him.

That is the nature of the media. Put someone on a pedestal so they can be torn down. Happens in music, movies, TV, and sports.
New England is on the perch and rightfully so. The Hoodie is the best coach in the game right now. But it still comes down to the fact that Dallas has been ripped more for going 13-3 and losing to the Giants in round 1 than New England ever will be for going one better at 14-2 and losing in round 1 last year.
Tennessee, San Diego, and Indianapolis have all gone one and out in the post season in recent years after a 13-3 or better season. Cowboys fans are too focused on their own misery to notice that other teams go through the exact same struggles.
They miss on draft picks. They make bad trades. They miss on Free Agents. They cut someone to save money that they previously gave a lot of money to.
Every team is in that same boat. But a lot of people do not want to hear that. They need a pacifier that simply says Jerry is the problem and if he was gone we'd win every Super Bowl with a great GM.
The problem with that is it is a fairy tale. We need a GM who gets talent on the roster and that is happening. It didn't always on Jerry's watch. But it is now.
The rest is up to the coaches and the players. It takes some luck too.

I had Palmer on one of my fantasy teams, so I watch more Bengal games than I would have wished. Ocho is pretty ridiculously overrated at this point. The Bengals basically came into last year trying to emulate the Colts and threw the ball A TON, and Ocho's numbers were still pedestrian. There were definitely games where Ocho looked like the 3rd best WR on his own team after TO and even Shipley. He didn't get seperation easily, and basically got most of his catches just because Palmer would force it into him even when he was covered to keep him happy (he was 15th in the NFL in pass targets last year ... put up maybe Top 30 production). If he didnt draw so much attention to himself, and you had never heard of him before you would probably call him just a JAG.

You summed it up beautifully right there! And I couldn't agree more about the myth of Jerry being our scourge. As I'm sure you would agree, living in Arizona with the Cardinals will make you appreciate just how lucky we Cowboys' fans are to have such a passionate owner. As a GM he has made his share of mistakes, but he also has three rings to his credit; and after a disappointing decade or so, we now appear to be back on the right track *crosses fingers*.

Great addition. Ocho isn't quite what he used to be, but he's still the Pats best recieving option.
