First-round pick Tyron Smith got his first practice in, and it wasn’t exactly smooth.

He committed a false start (yes, the Cowboys shipped in officials on the first day), and veteran linebacker DeMarcus Ware as well as Brandon Williams worked him over. The three-hour practice took its toll, too.

“It’s challenging. I ain’t going to lie,” Smith said. “It’s going to be a long process. But I’m going to learn and stay ahead as much as possible.”

Just keep at it, Tyron.

In his defense, he was filling in for Free at LT, a somewhat unfamiliar position on the OL. He'll be more comfortable once he returns to RT and also, he won't have to deal with taking on DeMarcus Ware while breaking in. That should help.
