I haven't heard the Cowboys come out and say they will ask players to redo their contracts therefore I seriously doubt Nnamdi is a real possibility.

I like Nnamdi and hope we get him but the team has other pressing needs. I'm not fan of overpaying for him just to get a WIN for JJ's ego.
You have a number you are willing to pay, just stick with it. If you can't get him you can't get him. Move on after that.
This 48 hr waiting thing is BS. Both teams should realize that and just give a final number and ask him to freakin choose who to take to the ball.

In fairness the Jets didnt come out and ask their players to do it either. In fact we've heard nothing specific about any of Dallas' offers

I hope NA gets an ENORMOUS contract and it's with the Jets. One that pisses Revis off to the point of demanding a new contract.

Because they don't have to. They know it won't be an issue. This type of restructuring is highly beneficial to the player.

Sapp has surprisingly sounded pretty intelligent today.
He was talking earlier about how Cullen Jenkins would be a much better fit for us. He went on to say with Jenkins + Ratliff on the D-line, and Ware + Spencer coming off the edges, it doesn't matter who you put at safety.

Although it would be exciting to sign a "star", I agree about mortgaging the future. We are not just one star CB away from winning the Super Bowl as sad as that may be to many of us.

The Jets have to re-do contracts in order to make room to bring in anyone else, whether it's Nnamdi or Cromartie or whoever. The Cowboys will have to do the same thing to bring in anyone of substance, whether it's Nnamdi or Cullen Jenkins or someone else. At this point, it's standard operating procedure around the league, and the vets tend to like it because it gives them more money up front. Stephen doesn't usually say what contracts he's re-worked or how they're done...he just does it.
Adam tells us how.

As I said earlier, it seems like the NFL Network was caught completely unaware by the Cowboys sudden interest.
The NFL Network has two people covering the Nnamdi story: Scott Hansen, who is at Jet headquarters, and Michael Lombardi, who is somewhere else on the east coast. There's no one at Cowboys headquarters or San Antonio.

As long as Nnamdi isn't the only player brought in, all is good.

They have a blonde chick down there covering the practices. She's kinda good lookin. The reporter in Denver is pretty smoking.

I wonder why the Jets are so infatuated with getting NO? Cromartie played awesome for them last year, and he's begging them to resign him. They already have the best (and highest paid) cornerback in the game. This seems more like a luxory signing for them, but they're sure treating it like a necessity.

Stephen Jones on record as redoing Romo, Ware, and forget who else (maybe Austin??) contracts. Cutting Newman would easily fit NA in at the predicted salary. Jones said this 2 or 3 days ago.

Why not?
If you figure that Nnamdi's cap hit for this year is offset by cutting Newman or even if Newman stays, Nnamdi's number will not be higher than Newman which would less than half the available space after restructuring.

meaningless -- Joneses have always had a policy of not restructuring until necessary (i.e. after reaching an agreement, not before)

It surprises me too Inman, especially considering it's likely going to cost them a few guys along the way. They must just be enamored by the "best CB tandem ever" talk.

She's probably covering the camp and doubtful she has any sort of sources at VR that will give her much.

If you're not BSing, the jets either are on the low side of the bargaining or NA is really leaning toward the Boys. Apparently the jets are gonna through the house at him mony-wise. trying to make him an offer he can't refuse. Puzzling that they are that infatuated with him. Seems like they will go to ANY length to land him.

They probably won't complete the restructure until Wednesday afternoon.
They're just lining it up so they can get under the cap before the deadline.

I'm BS but not all that much. If you look at the Tax Rates in New York and compare them to Texas, the Jets would have to make him a significantly higher offer in order to pay him the same kind of money he could take home in Dallas.

You should hear the guys on the NFL Radio Channel on Sirius talk about how amazing it is to play for the Jets and Rex Ryan. To hear them talk, NA should just sign with them for vet minimum just for the privilege.

nothing, dont get sucked into getting fleeced into giving him a bunch of more money..
For as much as some people post on this sight I must say that I am pretty surprised at the level of ignorance there still is around basic salary cap issues.
Three simple concepts...
Current year salary
Bonus amortization
June 2nd rule... will give you 95% of what you really need to know.
Add in, NEVER believe the media's cap information and ALWAYS believe Adam's explanations.
Clearly there are outspoken posters here who do not know what they're talking about on this issue. Maybe Adam could provide a brief summary of the above 3 issues and have it stickied.

I tend to agree with you.
But then I also have to believe that a defensive wizard like Rex Ryan has VERY good reasons why he thinks this is a worthwhile investment.
Or maybe its the enticement of getting to/winning the Super Bowl that he keeps coming up just short on and realizing how elusive that opportunity is. And he's willing to role the dice.

That's very true. Tax implications would be large with a huge salary.
