Apparently the same way the Fan Zone has the space for all these Eagle threads.

How do the Eagles have all this cap space?
They'd hardly spent any money in recent years and built the core of their team in the draft. What a concept.

They don't have Jerry Jones as their GM.

How do the Eagles have all this cap space?
Because they signed Vick for nothing and guys like DeSean are making less than $1 million this year.
When you hit on players like this, the positives are long lasting. When you totally jack up a trade, like say...Roy Williams or Albert Haynesworth, that stuff will haunt you for awhile.

The draft? Core? I think the Cowboys have more starters from the draft in past years then the Eagles do.

Had a solid season in 08 but hasn't been quite that good since.
1 year deal. Low risk.
Has to be an upgrade from Winston Justice.

Vick counts 16 mil against the cap and D.Jackson is holding out...

Apparantly, this year, they have L'il Danny Snyder as their GM.....

That's a contemptible lie.
Not one of their "core players" have been added through the draft. Well, maybe Patterson and Jackson... Maclin and McCoy if you want to be generous.

That's right, they franchised that mofo, didn't they? Jackson is coming back this week, no doubt in my mind. Are franchised players more cap-friendly in any way?
EDIT: Guess not but they certainly did well on other players, huh?

no,no,no,no,no not Ryan Harris--we really wanted and needed him! It's over! Our owner sucks and Romo's not a leader.

huh? Vick was franchised so....all that money counts against the cap...so I dont understand why you said both he and Jackson cost little.
And D.Jackson has been said to being comming back last week too and he still a no show.

Give them a little more playoff success and they'll have 15-20 guys all wanting $6-8 million a year at the same time.

Maclin was pretty much a 70 catch, 1,000 yard WR last year. McCoy was a 1,000 yard rusher and had about 1,600 total yards from scrimmage. They're both still playing on their rookie contracts.
It's not being generous to include them in the core.

8 players were drafted or rookie free agents on defense. 8 on offense. I could be missing somebody, but that sounds about right. The bulk of their team were their own products.

Really true.
Then again, any single year by itself can be very misleading since teams can pretty much slide unused space from year to year as they need it.

Man, I look at that $893,250 salary for Desean and think it's a misprint. No wonder he's pissed! :laugh2:
Owners were smart in pushing for the clause that states that if X player misses a certain amount of games, they'll be on the hook for another year with the team. Without that, there is no doubt in my mind that Desean would sit out the entire year if he had to. I would too.

Exactly! Many teams have done that, the Eagles haven't to date, but, if they extend Vick that would free up another 10 M. They are loaded, and it's because they didn't spend money last year, and carried over everything to this year. These guys are very frugal with long-term contracts. They won't mortgage the future. Just check out how they are structuring these contracts.

In the Eagles defence....I think they payed him more last year as a bonus..but overall....he has a second rd contract.....he will be UFA next year I believe

He might still hold out for the year. The Eagles don't extend contracts to holdouts. From what I understand the Eagles want to extend him, but won't talk until after he reports. Makes you wonder about the intelligence of Jackson?
Hopefully he sticks to his guns, and doesn't report.

Yeah, provided he sucks it up and plays this year. If they don't redo his deal in about two weeks, I would play and leave them high and dry next year. Would probably go play for a division rival just so I could stick it to that team twice a year.
I think Desean would look good in silver and blue in 2012. :laugh2:

He will because if he holds out too long, the Eagles retain his rights for another year. No way is he that stupid.

how is this anything like what the redskins did......the eagles have a loaded up and got EXTRA picks for next year 1 first 2 seconds and 2 thirds for next years draft
AND
they added good players (2 a good team) on short terms deals (every deal expect NA's) that they can get out of next year
haters will hate though

He might still hold out for the year.
A player cannot hold out for a year anymore. It costs $30K in fines per day and the player also loses a year towards free agency.
He may not be very smart, but there is no way he would hold out for the year.
