A year ago, John Phillips was the talk of training camp. Back then, he was an emerging second-year player who appeared to have been cut from the same mold as the Cowboys' most-accomplished tight end, Jason Witten.
In Dallas' first preseason game against Cincinnati, Phillips made four receptions for 60 yards. But later in the game, during the second quarter, he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and his 2010 season ended before it ever began.
Now, after months of rehabilitation, Phillips has returned to the field, where he has been reintroduced to contact.
