ARLINGTON -- David Buehler was perfect from the field Thursday night. The Cowboys kicker nailed his only field goal attempt and drilled his only extra-point try in the preseason opener.

As he admitted after the Cowboys' 24-23 victory over the Denver Broncos, he's been through the good, the bad and the in between.

"I'm just gonna go out there every time they line me up and I'm gonna make the kick," Buehler said. "That's how I see it. Obviously I was a little rusty at the start of camp, but I'm knocking off that rust and capitalizing in games."

We really don't need two kickers. I think he gets beaten out.

I feel like the kicking job is mine to lose

Which I feel you have...

Buehler's one crutch (big kickoffs) has now been taken away by the new rules.

Now it's about kickers making field goals, which he fails to do consistantly.

I like Buehler, but he is HORRIBLE on FGs. The one he made last night didn't even look good. It squeaked inside at the end. His kicking is horrible. He pulls left/right constantly. He never can line up and slam it down the middle w/ momentum.

Folk used to do that in his prime year. He was money, hence the name. Ive not seen that yet from Mr. Buehler.

I hate the gnawing feeling we will miss the FG w/ him kicking.

I thought he missed it too until the ref threw his hands up.

I think Buehler may be needed later in the year and out of doors to put the ball in the end zone though. When the weather gets colder and/or when he's kicking against the wind I don't know if Bailey can get th ball to the end zone with any kind of hang time. As much as I hate to say it, I would keep two kickers. I don't want to rely on the Buehler for field goals.

Anyone see Cundiff get a 53 yarder last night? :D

Last night was more about him being geeked up playing in Cowboys Stadium for the first time. Nobody should count on him doing that consistently.

Agreed.

It may not be Bailey, but somebody will take his job this year.

If the rookie wins the job, I'd still keep em both, at least for a little while. You just never know with kickers, especially young ones.

The new kid could win in preseason, then miss his first game ending kick and go to hell the rest of the season. We don't need that extra roster spot for a guy who won't even be active most of the season so badly to risk it all on a rookie....keep em both and let the rookie prove it for at least half the season if not all the season.

Heck, Vanderjact proved it's a gamble even with a proven vet.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Ferris Bueller gets more than just one day off come final cut day.
