Hurd was open a couple times but Cutler or whoever was playing QB didnt throw it too him plus he stripped the ball on a kickoff and Barber had a few good runs, one where he broke 2 tackles and got close to the goal line. Think he went 7 for 45 or something like that.
Just thought some might be interested.

:laugh2: Hey give me a break I've watched about 4 preseason games tonight, I have all those lesser QB's mixed up in my head.
Plus it doesn't help that I rewatched our game against Devner right before I watched the Chicago game. It messes with your head.

It's funny because their quarterback play hasn't changed much since he left, and it probably never will. He may as well still be in Chicago.

Good for them. I have nothing against any of those guys. I wish them the best in Chicago. Especially Barber. I hope his career can rebound from what it was in his latter days here.

Orton wish he had Cutler's arm.

We should have traded Hurd, Barber and RW for Knox. :o:

That would have been a good trade, but there's no way the Bears would've taken on their contracts. McCaskeys are cheap as, well, you know.

Did Barber play with the starters or backups?

Agreed, I was cheering on Barber during his runs. Don't get me wrong I was very glad we cut him but still like the guy a lot and hope he does well with them.

He got time with both I believe. They only played forte for a series then put Barber in. Surprisingly every preseason game I've watched besides ours the teams have been playing their starters a couple series at least.

yeah i'm suprised they didnt keep our defense on the field after that bad first series. I probably would of made them play a second series. But I guess they didnt want to risk injury to any more starters. We was already missing 4 starters (if you count brookings as a starter:D )

I noticed that too. Oh, and we were very "vanilla" also. :D

Makes sense considering the lack of practices.

Doesn't matter, they were playing Buffalo, who has no Run D to speak of. Every RB in the league looks good.

Marion Barber is under-rated and could play a very significant role for Chicago this Season.

My brother in law (Bears fan) was not overly thrilled about picking up Barber this year. He asked if he could trade him for the Barber of 3 years ago instead.

I always took him for a big Chester Taylor type.

I don't miss Barber at all. His running was becoming difficult to watch. The dancing around, attempting to take it outside, and getting tripped up for no gain or a loss of yardage. Loved him in '07, but he hasn't been that guy for quite some time. Good riddance. Hurd, on the other hand, probably would have been nice to have as a 4th or 5th WR/ST player. Unfortunately, you can't keep everybody. A guy like Hurd is valuable, but pretty replaceable.

All is good until the real season comes and Barber tries to hit the edge...

i saw the highlights on our favorite sports station and thought he looked just as plodding and slow (even more so) as he did last year. The only reason he got beyond the line of scrimmage was because of Buffalo's horrible tackling.

Huh? I'm watching the game and he is hitting the holes hard at about 7 yards a clip, I didn't see any of the side to side gallop we grew accustomed to here.
I really liked Barber, its a shame it didn't work out better in Dallas, nice block by him as well:

Hurd had a nice strip on a kickoff return nullified by a penalty
Does anyone know what Hurd got paid in Chicago? I liked him as well and thought he'd one day break out

I hope Roy, Barber, and Hurd all do well. I'd like to see them help the Bears beat up on the Vikings and Packers. I have no issue with that at all.
