IRVING -- Former Cowboys offensive lineman Larry Allen, who played in more Pro Bowls (11) than any other Cowboys offensive player in franchise history, was at the team's first outdoor practice of training camp Thursday at Valley Ranch against the San Diego Chargers.
Longtime Cowboys offensive line coach Hudson Houck asked Allen to visit a few practices to help with the development of 20-year-old rookie right tackle Tyron Smith.
Allen, who planned to take Smith out to lunch to give him some more pointers, said he was impressed with the Cowboys' first-round draft pick out of USC. Allen said he plans to be in town until Saturday.

Allen, who is regarded as one of the strongest men to ever play in the NFL, said this is the first year he's allowed his son to lift weights. His son is already benching 285 pounds and squatting 315 pounds. His son received his first recruiting letter recently from Cornell.
Wrong. He is regarded as THE strongest to ever play, not "one of." You find me a guy who was stronger, and I'll show you a guy who is so juiced up on steroids, he probably glows in the dark.
But it does bring up a question -- who are some of the all time strongest players in the league? And am I mistaken, is there anyone who put up more weight than big Larry?

Allen was probably the best weight lifter ever (in the NFL). Reggie White was stronger on the field. Only person I ever saw toss Allen around and nearly effortlessly I might add.

Ever since LA benched the 700+ pounds, IMO he wasn't the same. Later on that year, it came out he had a shoulder strain. I think it was from that bench press. No reason behind it, but just my useless thought. Seemed he always had little nagging injuries after that.

He did, but it was when he was first thrown in there to replace Williams (I think). After Larry got his feet wet he didn't get thrown around by anyone including Reggie White. Reggie wasn't stronger IMHO he just had better technique and leverage when Larry was a greenhorn.

That had to do with technique not strength. Reggie White is an obvious all timer and certainly had great strength but he was not stronger than Larry Allen. He was just the crafty vet toying with the young rookie.
You don't have to be stronger to throw somebody around on the football field. You just have to gain the leverage.

Reggie had that patented club over move where he'd get the OL to kick out wide with great force to protect the speed rush, then Reggie would use the guy's momentum against him by underhooking him and tossing him aside in the same direction the OL was moving.
That's what this guy's talking about. Nothing to do with strength. Everything to do with technique.
