SMITHFIELD, Va. - George doesn't know how good he has it. He gets food and shelter and a ton of love. He gets chew toys and a place to run and play. He is an 8-year-old coonhound - a hunting dog - who recently moved into a palatial home at 1915 Moonlight Rd., a place George definitely would not have wanted to be a few years back, when Moonlight Road wasn't so much a bucolic byway as the epicenter of a sickening and sordid crime.

George's new home is out in the low country along the James River, directly across from a little white chapel called Ferguson Grove Baptist Church. There isn't a stoplight within miles. Everywhere you look, you see fields of cotton and soybeans and corn, farmers tending to their crops even as a newcomer to town tries to cultivate something far more ambitious and enduring.

Vick was just talking recently how dog fighting was part of the culture of the south; which is BS. Deliverance South, maybe.

K well Bullfighting and chicken fighting is part of many many cultures. Why can't you believe Dogfighting is? Those two are just as bad.

It's awful imo.. but there are millions who find it acceptable.

I didn't mean set you people off. Thought this was a nice story. Vick will get his soon enough despite his PR machine; anyone spreadin that much bad karma will find it returning to him eventually. This isn't about the guy but the cool girl's considerable efforts/sacrifices and especially her rescue dogs. Seems from the story she could use some support, which she deserves.
