Anyone have one?
I know HP canned them but it looks like there are some really solid prices floating around.
Any problems to know about?

I don't have one yet, but I've got two on the way. At those prices you can't go wrong. WebOS is pretty good I hear, but a development group is already working on an Android port.

I've got one on the way as well. It's $99 for a tablet that runs WebOS. That's pretty awesome.
WebOS has the best feel of any of the major mobile OSes, but it doesn't have nearly the developer support. It's too bad that it was mishandled so badly.
As soon as the price dropped, they instantly sold out everywhere.

Yeah, I was lucky to see a twitter status about it. So I went to Amazon when the link was posted by someone I was following and ordered one right away for $99. I checked back about a half an hour later and the price went back up to over $400. I can't say I'm displeased.
Life is hard work, and nothing will change that. But sometimes you get lucky and you have to thank God for it, and take advantage of the opportunities that are provided to you.

I have one. It is a cool product in that it multitasks better that the other stuff out there. It got killed before it had a chance.

I got in on one from Amazon earlier in the day.
I'm really hoping it comes through, just for the viewing of PDFs and surfing capabilities.

yeah same here. have been wondering if it will come thru ever since, so the B&N is kind of tempting.

It does and supposedly it runs Flash stuff very well from the reviews I've read.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with a tablet, but for $99, does it really matter?

At $99 it's a steal. The biggest problem is it sounds like it's going to die. You buy something that is going to fall behind and developers aren't going to write apps for a product that is dead in the water.
It's a shame and I heard great things about WebOS.

You can install Android on it, and they aren't dumping WebOS, just their tablet and PC hardware. They say they plan to continue developing WebOS and licensing it out, so updates should still be available.

Oh, I thought i read they were doing away with the whole thing. (which sounded odd) I guess they are just getting out of the non-server hardware business.

One problem I heard was that WebOS was sluggish on that hardware. They said it wasn't that WebOS was slow, but that the tablet was under powered. I can't remember where I heard this, but that is probably a big reason they dropped the price to $99 trying to get rid of them.

Yes, the Touchpad and the Palm phones are being discontinued. Other than that... at this point, all they said is that they are investigating doing something with the PC/laptop/workstation side of the business. They may sell it, they may spin it off (Like HP did with Agilent several years ago), or they may keep it. It is a $40B profitable business... they are not closing the doors on it.

I'm not so sure that was the case afterall:

Plus, there are WebOS optimization guides which make it seem to me like there were some poor performance choices that HP made with regards to the OS:

Isn't that the tablet where the developers put the software on an iPad and it ran twice as fast? Seems the hardware was underpowered for the OS.
For $99 what do you have to lose?????

An IT buddy told me that HP is getting out of the PC business. Gonna sell the division to Dell. If this is true, I'm sure they will still use the HP branding...

I got it today. It's pretty heavy and is a bit sluggish out of the box, but after the 3.02 update and a few tweaks, it's running great. Now, I just need to do some lifting so my arms don't get tired holding that thing up to use it. :D
Another thing that I wish they would have done: more gesture support. The Palm Pre had a bunch of different gestures you could do at the bottom of the phone in the gesture area. You could swipe up to bring up the card view/app launcher, swipe left to go back, right to go forward, etc. From what I can tell, the only gesture that works is the swipe up. That sucks. :(

It weighs about 1.6 pounds. If this is heavy for you, then I suggest you start your lifting plan with these ;) :
