It's Official: Gene Simmons And Shannon Tweed's Wedding Invite!

Posted Thu Sep 1, 2011 6:14pm PDT by Tiffany Lee in Stop The Presses! (http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/stopthepresses;_ylt=Ai9cu0572Rbr_YbDMfrNKVoexCUv)

Get ready for the rock wedding of the year.

After 28 years together, KISS bassist Gene Simmons (http://new.music.yahoo.com/gene-simmons/) and Shannon Tweed are getting married.

The two left viewers hanging on the season finale of their A&E reality show, "Gene Simmons: Family Jewels," when footage showed Simmons popping the question while vacationing in Belize. The show teased that Tweed's response will be revealed when the show returns Oct. 4.

But People.com has obtained an invitation to the wedding (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/SIG=12cf9imq4/EXP=1316193078/**http%3A//www.people.com/people/article/0,,20525275,00.html), which is set for October 1 (three days before the new season of "Jewels" premieres) at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

It sounds like it will be an affair to remember.

Of course she said yes. My gosh the whole premise of the show has been leading up to him folding to the pressure everyone has been applying to him to marry her.

I will say this though, the episode where he returned to Israel and met his unknown brother and sisters and found out about his Dad hit home to me. I mean really hit home. I wrote him a letter after that show.

I couldn't sleep one night and caught that episode at like 3 in the morning and it was moving.

Anyone that thought she was going to say no was fooling themselves.

It was a very touching episode.

I met Gene once -- this was maybe 20 years ago -- very nice guy. I was basically the lowest rung employee at an event for the band. We talked briefly while washing hands in the bathroom and later he came by and talked with me for a couple minutes. I wasn't a fan or anything - I think we were talking about places to eat or something. Remembered my name too.

I haven't liked a Kiss tune in years and I think the makeup is very lame but those guys tour to sold out crowds still so they have some magic...

Gene seems like a nice man but he's always said he'd never marry (long before George Clooney was) so why now? They must need ratings. If she's been with him for 28 years with no marriage..had kids...and stuck with him while he's screwing every woman in sight the marriage thing seems kind of a waste of time other than for the publicity.

We can only hope it doesn't get all the publicity that silly Kardashian girl got....

You must not have seen any of the show. It has nothing to do with ratings or publicity.

It wouldn't surprise me. Notherbob is a unique breed of people. He's a very kind-hearted and practical man who likes his own style of life. He doesn't strike me as the T.V. type.

I'm definitely not a regular viewer..actually infrequent would be accurate but if somebody is together for 28 years..has a reality show..then what other reason would there be to suddenly get engaged? And on TV no less...I saw most of an episode where she was weepy and upset because he was lying about going to therapy. I hope they have a long happy marriage. And I'm sure it will all be played out on TV.

Shannon hasn't been happy for years. She kept together for the kids. But now they are grown up and gone away to college. She still loves Gene but has grown tired of his antics the last few years. Tired of seeing him out with girls all the time she finally put her foot down. If Gene didn't grow up and his change his way they would have been history. Long story short, Gene is ready to man up because he doesn't want to lose Shannon. I don't believe this has anything to do with the fact they are on TV.

As I thought about it, Gene and I did talk about where to eat briefly. But, as I recall, what we talked about mostly was what I was listening to at the time. I told him it was the new Cure release. He was really interested as he'd liked their earlier stuff but hadn't checked out the new album. Seriously.
