Veteran guard Derrick Dockery was signed to the Cowboys as a veteran insurance policy for rookie Bill Nagy, who will start at left guard. But Dockery, a Garland native and former Longhorns star who was cut by the Redskins in March, says he is here to compete for a starting job.

"I’m coming to compete, man," Dockery said. "I’m going on my ninth year. I’ve played a fair amount of games, so my expectation every year is to come in and compete and try to be a starter and try to help the team in any way I can. I just know one thing: When I come out here, coach is going to get my very best effort."

Dockery says his problems in Shanahan's scheme were overblown, but he does admit being a better for what the Cowboys do on offense.

Well he's certainly saying the right things. He seems like a better option than Holland. We'll see.

He replaced my pet cat, so he is the new pet cat.

That's the ticket, Salty...and an old style road grader would be nice come short yardage/Red Zone situations. He is more mobile than was Leonard Davis, and has good interior skills. I loved him when he was on the pre-Shannahan Redskins.
