Veteran guard Derrick Dockery was signed to the Cowboys as a veteran insurance policy for rookie Bill Nagy, who will start at left guard. But Dockery, a Garland native and former Longhorns star who was cut by the Redskins in March, says he is here to compete for a starting job.
"I’m coming to compete, man," Dockery said. "I’m going on my ninth year. I’ve played a fair amount of games, so my expectation every year is to come in and compete and try to be a starter and try to help the team in any way I can. I just know one thing: When I come out here, coach is going to get my very best effort."
Dockery says his problems in Shanahan's scheme were overblown, but he does admit being a better for what the Cowboys do on offense.
