7. Dallas Cowboys
Odds to win Super Bowl XLVI: +2187
While they were listed as prime Super Bowl contenders before the season in just about every publication and poll imaginable, 2010 simply got away from the Cowboys. Before the season started, Dallas had been a very reasonable 12-9 in games decided by a touchdown or less with Tony Romo at quarterback. They started 2010, of course, by losing that Sunday Night game to the Redskins, and the close defeats kept coming. After Michael Boley cleaved apart Romo's collarbone with a hit in Week 7, the Cowboys trudged off the field with a 1-5 record. Incredibly, each of their five losses had been by a touchdown or less.

That is a great article, and it's exactly what a few of us have been saying. Last year was pretty much a fluke. A little reversion to the mean and we're a very good team again, like we have been for years.

Last year was horrible, but I still don't want to be a good team like we have been for years. Somewhere along the line i want to actually become a team with a real shot to win it all again.

Couldn't agree more. Maybe with some youth infusion and a HC that is so detailed and a DC who is crazy we might just have a good mix to create some magic.

When I see objective writing I don't know how to react anymore. It like being fed a steady diet of lard and out of the blue some one gives you a porter house steak.

Nothing new if you listen to the B.S report, after every down year people act like we're a bottom feeder, but we usually bounce back with a double digit win year.
I wonder how we'll fare in these close games when we aren't averaging 10 penalties a game, i hardly saw any yellow when our 1st unit was on the field this preseason.

Hey that was a refreshing look at how close games can turn a team around.

The reality is the same scheduling gifts that give the Cowboys a better shot also help the Eagles and Steelers. The Eagles have flaws like Dallas, but unlike Dallas the Eagles really did improve themselves from last year.
Pittsburgh looks better than last year and they have an easier schedule. Their toughest game is at home, and it's possible they could go undefeated.
When passing conditions are perfect, Green Bay is the best team in football hands down. They look as good or better this year. Ironically their worst enemy might be their home field conditions late in the year.
Dallas, for all the hype, has pathetic depth on the OL and in the secondary-- sound familiar? Only the worst GM in football fails to address the same damn issues-- safety, OL, LB depth-- year after year.

Unlike most here I am not going to totally discount the Redskins. With Shanny coaching there and a new/better GM they are going to become a power again. If not this year then soon.
As for Pittsburg...who cares? That is the AFC and has no real effect on the Cowboys unless we make it to the Superbowl. As much as I love the Cowboys, that will happen...only in my fondest dreams.

Not been in on many internet 'discussions' with Pittsburgh fans from another site, have we? :starspin

I doubt very much that Garrett lets the players get a big head also. Pads on Wednesdays will keep the players grounded in reality. That has to translate into a couple of wins alone.
The infusion of youth will also translate into a couple of wins, because the yellow flags will be a lot fewer. The defense scares me, Jenkins and Newman are unlikely to play in all the games, and there isn't much behind them.

And why Garrett has put emphasis on the fourth quarter this year.

I know it is how the cards fall but I always enjoy it when Pittsburgh's "1st Place" schedule looks like a 4th place and our "3rd place schedule" looks closer to a 1st.
What a joke. Ravens twice and Pats are their only tests. The others they just have to dress up.
