Jacksonville Jaguars (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=jac): Despite criticizing the Jaguars repeatedly and openly pleading for a trade, it appears that strong safety Donovin Darius (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4287) will remain in Jacksonville, The Florida Times-Union reported.

Darius was seeking a deal to either the Vikings or Dolphins after being designated the Jaguars franchise player for the third consecutive year.

The Jaguars turned down a pair of deals from Minnesota. One was a swap of first-round picks, giving the Jags the No. 7 pick while the Vikes would take No. 21. The other offer for Darius was a third-round draft pick.

Minnesota's interest in Darius ended when the Vikings signed former Packers safety Darren Sharper (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3921).

Ummmm souded like a pretty good offer to me. Guess they were wanting multiple draft picks.

Then again were they serious about trading Darius at all.

Sounds like postering. Didn't want to give Darius what he wanted, since he embarassed the organization by writing to the papers of Minny and Miami. But it's a little like cutting off your nose to spite your face. IMO, if he doesn't want to be there and you've got teams wanting him, make the deal.

Yep... I would imagine this multi-year franchising of players is going to be addressed by the NFLPA in the upcoming CBA meetings...

They may end up with nada...

Ok, I know I will get slammed for this, but please hear me out. We send Jacksonville our 2nd round pick (#42 overall) in this draft for Donovan Darius, and then trade Dat to NO for Howard, then, Bradie James can be the middle linebacker, and you know that Al Groh and Parcells are connected, and you can rest assured Parcells wants to land Blackstock out of VA, and then Singleton and Thornton will compete on the other outside lb spot. Just think for one moment how unbelievable this defense will be. Best in football, hands down, IMHO! Just food for thought, Cowboy fans! :mummy:

Not so much a slam as we don't need another SS. Roy is a SS, not a FS. Donovan is a SS even though reports are saying he's gotten better in coverage. With that said, I'm not going to address the rest of your post. Cuz that's WAY too much wheeling and dealing.

#7 - #21 is a considerable jump. I would have taken that trade in a heartbeat if I'm Jacksonville. It's much better than a 3rd rounder.

I like that response, Woodysgirl, that was great! Just something to ponder, and yes, I am aware Donovan is a SS, but I have also read where he is much better in coverage than one would think. Thanks for responding. :rolleyes:

looks like this means that the vikes are more for going towards the Defensive side of the ball for their first rounder

Why does Minnesota have the 21st pick?

I thought they had the 18th or 19th?

Does this mean we pick earlier than 20?

Further proof indicating just how weak this draft's top ten really is. It would normally cost a first round pick to move up 14 spots into the top ten.

If the Jags turned down a swap of 21 for 7 then they aren't too bright.

That is a difference of 700 draft points or equilivant to 26th overall pick in the draft.

They should have jumped on that.
