Charlie Sheen might have been high last season, but Two and a Half Men went higher without him and saw series highs. CBS easily won the first night of the season as Two and Half Men scored nearly 28 million viewers to go along with its 10.3 adults 18-49 rating.

Which is the highest rated scripted show in nearly a decade and rated higher than American Idols finale this year.

Hmmm, I just read this article:

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2011/09/20/ashton-kutchers-debut-not-enough-to-put-two-and-half-men-in-monday-nights-top/

which states they only had 14.5 million.

All thanks to Sheen himself. Trust me, ratings will plummet next week.

Of course the Cowboys play the skins next Monday Night. :D

As much as that show has been hyped since Kutcher replaced Sheen, I'm not surprised it did well. It is common though for pre-existing shows with a new star to do well when it is highly promoted and discussed constantly in the media prior to the first episode with that star.

Shows like that almost always drop considerably by the next episode and continue declining until returning back to normal levels. In this case, since a new star replaced the previous main star, it would be logical to assume the new "normal" ratings level will be lower than before. That really has less to do with Sheen leaving and more to do with people who knew the back story from previous seasons hating change and the new viewers feeling like they are walking in near the end of an ongoing story.

My thoughts exactly.

Tabloid TV for a night.

I watched football and WWE off and on and still don't give a crap about two and a half men, dancing with the stars......

The Charlie Sheen Roast was funny as hell, save for Tyson and Steve-o.

You would think they would of made sure the first episode was really good in anticipation of a large audience tuning in to see how they handle the loss of Sheen. Unfortunately it was awful and Kutcher's character was annoying.

once the kid grew up the only funny thing left was Charlie. Kutcher's character is the same from the '70s show but with money.

Jeff Ross, Amy Schumer, and William Shatner owned the show.

ComedyCenteral.com short clips (uncensored) of each person. Can't link to it as it's pretty bad. :laugh2:

I can't figure out why Kutcher even gets acting jobs. The only roll I ever seen him play that fit was That 70s Show. Even that character got old quick.

The only thing he can play is an idiot and that is because the shoe fits.

Not really. Kelso was an idiot; the new character is smart (hey, he's a billionaire), but also a stiff in the personality department. I thought he did well, but Cryer did all the heavy lifting.

Loved the old show. Thought the premier flat out sucked.

I am. It's because the ratings determine what shows get renewed and cancelled, which pilots will get picked up etc;. I always follow the ratings, www.tvbythenumbers.com is the leading website in that department.

Too much TV rots the brain. I suggest you read a book or go outside more often.

Really? I thought it was really spotty. Jeff Ross is always good. The Anthony Jeselnik guy was pretty damn funny. Tyson and Steve O were awful. Kate Walsh and the other female comedian were pretty tame. Captain Kirk is senile and Lovitz was disappointing. The black guy with diabetes looked like he was winging it.

Sheen was good. And Seth McFarland is a good host. I love roasts because I love mean humor; I had high hopes for this one and left pretty disappointed.

Amy Schumer? Tame? :laugh2: I thought she was the most brutal of them all. :lmao2:

She was surprisingly funny. That crack at Steve O about his "Jackarse" friend who died recently was brutal. Pity she's not much to look at.

They really need to stop using non-comics like Tyson or The Situation. It's uncomfortable watching them trying to be something they're not.

gave the show another shot tonight. Now they have Jake's mom messing around with Kelso? They are really grasping for straws.
