The 49ers' pass protection is continuing the Jekyll-and-Hyde routine it started in the preseason. After allowing no sacks in a Week 1 win against Seattle, the 49ers gave up six against the Cowboys, none more damaging than an overtime sack that derailed what began as a promising drive.
On KNBR (680) Tuesday morning, coach Jim Harbaugh called the sacks a "unit thing" in that there were breakdowns just about everywhere, including the coaching staff.
"We all sting from that and are accountable for it," Harbaugh said.
Here's a sack-by-sack breakdown in the 49ers' 27-24 overtime loss to Dallas:

Real interesting to read details on each sack. Sure hope the Cowboys enjoy the same sack success against the Skins--perhaps including stripping the ball several times.

Seems as though Anthony Spencer is a heck of a playmacker... He's causing havoc which is leading to his teammates such as Hatcher having a nice start to the season.

I agree. He has started the season off well. I thought he was very active in both games.
Spencers looking for a payday. I'm sure we will pony up and he'll disappear again.

Wow, that's a better article than anything I've read out of the DMN or FWST in ages.
Oh wait, we have Mac Engel telling us how Romo shouldn't play in the Jets game

I think a better HC that demands discipline and effort along with a better D-C is more of the reason as to why he's playing well.

This is the type of play I have expected in Spencer and a style of play he has not always lived up to. I'm glad he is getting recognized for his play and hope he continues to play at a high level.

He's not going to be a high sack numbers guy but he still needs to be a playmaker in other ways.

I agree but I do think his sack totals will increase. He has 2 sacks and a forced fumble after 2 games last year he had a total of 5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles for the entire season. I'm not expecting him to surpass Ware I do expect him to continue to play hard and get after the QB
