Getting all that money, playing only 1 side, just to get abused....sorry i rather have Jenkins, O Scan and Newman....at least we don't have our hopes high that they are soooooo shut down

To make matters worse, Cruz caught that pass in double coverage. Nnamdi was simply out of position to make the play. Cruz just made a very good catch.

Newman can play both sides
And he is not all the hype, and won't command top dollars
fact is, we nearly broke our neck to get a guy, who only plays 1 side, and get's abused

I'd still take him on my team but through 3 weeks he's surely hasn't been the shutdown corner everyone feared. I do think he would've been better suited in a defense he's accustom to. I don't even know what defense that offensive line coach is running over there. Its pitiful and their linebackers are even more pitiful.

I hear you....
but when considered a shutdown Corner..or 1 of the best....Scheme should have little effect
a good scheme could help yes. But if you are the best or top 2...Scheme shouldn't affect your game play
Newman, Jenkins, and O Scan...where never considered the best...so a good scheme would benefit them...Newman is the only 1 i see play at least decent in every scheme we ever had...he was never shut down, but was decent

Can't tackle not that Newman, Jenkins O Scan have perfect tackling skills in every game that they play but if you're paid and hyped up to be in the Revis type League as a CB then the two big things you better know how to do is cover and tackle.
Nnamdi is no better than on own DB's in coverage.

First statement-- this isn't an overreaction post. I've been saying this whole season that they have a good passing game and good pass defense when it comes to the corners. Safeties aren't really good, and linebackers are worse... and the DL? I heard they were rated high but I've never seen it. Add to the fact they have an OL coach for a DC and I have no idea why anyone would ever think they're good enough to compete with top teams. They're weak where it matters... the trenches.

This only goes to show how bad of a GM Jerry is. :D
I actually think most shutdown CBs are overrated, Revis excepted (although the refs let him get away with a lot of contact).
Your defense will be much better with an average secondary without major weak spots and a dominant front 7 than with an all-star secondary and a weak front 7.

Harshest judgment should fall on Rob Ryan, he is the guy who wanted him most. Jerry was merely trying to make that happen.

This. It's important to remember the important things in football many years ago are still very important. Trenches> everything else. Even the best corners can only cover for so long.

Asomugha is probably going to be okay but he is getting old and probably starting his downslide.
Newman started to decline around age 30.
Everyone thinks every DB can be like Daryl Green and be elite into his late 30s but he was an aberration.

I don't buy this at all. Number one, there is no reason to judge Ryan in this situation at all...number two, just because NA has had a bad couple of games in Philly doesn't mean you can extrapolate that the same would have happened had he come to Dallas. You could just as easily say that NA's problem so far is a coaching issue and that had he come to Dallas Ryan would have him playing much better.
I know you didn't originally want Ryan to come to Dallas but come on. I don't judge Ryan OR Jerry for the way NA is playing in Philly. They made the best decision they could at the time. They tried to get talent in our secondary and had he come here he may very well have been successful.

6'1 210 lbs. cornerbacks in particular don't age particularly gracefully. NA looks a little flat footed out there.

I remember, and I was always against it. I would probably be banned from every Cowboys board out there had they got him, because I would lay into the stupidity of that acquisition big tmie. Past experiences (Roy W.) suggest that most of my fellow fans can't stand that sort of stance, especially Admin. Luckily, Nnamdi is sucking it up in Philly. :)

Oh I agree. I don't believe Nnamdi is a shut down corner. I don't believe Revis is either. I think both guys benefit from playing alongside another corner that's easy to pick on. And I think Newman at his best was better than decent. He was solid. He was reliable. I hope we get that same Newman this year. When healthy if Revis is a top tier cornerback than Newman was a second tier.
But I do think if this team had Nnamdi on it he would be doing a lot better here than with the Eagirls. That team is soft in the middle and lack any safety. A guy everyone cried about over here in Nate Allen looks terrible. He gets run over more than any safety that i've ever see come through here.
I'm no longer losing sleep over Nnamdi. lol. Don't get me wrong. I'd take him in a heartbeat here and I still would but I overrated him. And maybe its not all him. Maybe its the short offseason because nevermind his covering. His tackling has been TERRIBLE. That whole Eagirl team has been terrible tackling. I expect it from AShanti even though he's been decent tackling.

Like others have said, I think Philly saved us from ourselves on this one. Jerry had the checkbook out and was ready to sign over a piece of the franchise for this guy.

Yep not for the money he was demanding. However, at a reasonable price I would have loved to have him on my team.
He had a bad game or a normal game for a lot of CBs in the league but that doesn't diminish the fact that he is still a good corner.

As would I but at 30 his contract just did not make much sense to me.
I do think CB will be an area we will have to address next year for the future of this team but I would much rather take a chance in the draft than over paying in FA
