Franchise and position rules

I have a question for the board. Since Hunter is a FA next year, I was wondering how this would affect his Free Agent status. If for some reason he sets the world on fire at FS ( god wouldn't that be great), could we then franchise him as a Free Safety instead of a CB. The difference being a huge one cap wise. I'm not sure of the rule on something like that since he has played almost exclusively at CB prior. Just hypothetical.

That would be nice but i dont think we will ever see him playing FS. Unless of course we dont draft or sign one and Kieth Davis doesnt work... I think he has too much potential at corner to move him to FS
