A nation best 26-2 out of conference and with a nation best 7 teams undefeated heading into conference play, 70 percent of the surviving Big 12 has yet to taste defeat this season, though that will inevitably change Saturday as four conference unbeatens take on each other with #17 Texas vs. Iowa State and #15 Baylor at Kansas State.

Doesnt really matter, the winner of the Alabama/LSU game is more than likely going to win the national title.

Likely your right but it still matters how teams in the Big 12 do and which bowl games they make it too.

Last week the Big 12 overtook the SEC as the top conference in the nation in ESPN Stats & Info’s Conference Power Rankings –- a system that that equally weighs the rankings from the AP Poll and a compilation of available BCS computer rankings in order to determine which conference is the strongest and weakest from top to bottom.

http://a.espncdn.com/i/teamlogos/ncaa_conf/med/trans/big_12.gifThe Big 12 remains atop the rankings despite the Texas A&M Aggies (http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/245/texas-a&m-aggies) falling out the Top 10 in the AP Poll. Overall, the Big 12 went 3-0 in non-conference games this past weekend, including wins over Miami (FL) and Nevada. The Big 12 is 26-2 in games outside of the conference, which is the best non-divisional win percentage of any conference (SEC is 25-4).

The SEC is the best college football conference...end of story.

i think its not question that the best SEC team is almost always better than the best big 12 team, but its not that big of a difference after that. btw i still think texas beats alabama if colt doesnt get hurt and i think TCU was clearly the best team in the country last year. The SEC's titles have come against choke artists like OU and Ohio State, against a team whose starting quarterback got hurt early, and almost blew it to a now clearly terrible quarterback (gilbert). if we had a playoff system i doubt the SEC wins all those titles. i might be biased a bit though i hate the SEC.

The SEC is the best college football conference...end of story.I'm the first to agree with that statement if this was anytime in the past 5 years, but I'm not so sure that's the case this year. I think the Big XII is better at the top and is deeper this season than the SEC.

However I see a very real danger of having 3 undefeateds from BCS conferences (not to mention a pesky Boise State being #4) this year.
