View Full Version : Abraham vs. Howard

I'm not concerned about Abraham's character issues. Randy Moss has character issues not John Abraham. It's always easy to depict a player as being a bad when he wants to leave his team. Terrell Owens was considered to have character issues and look what he did for the Eagles last year. Plus, Bill Parcells drafted him and Abraham knows that so I think he will behave with Bill around.
The concern I have is his health. He has missed a lot of games in his career.
But one thing you have to keep in mind is that when he does play, he is a force. He had 10 sacks last season in 12 games. I don't care what anyone says, Darren Howard is not as good of a pass rusher as Abraham but that doesn't necessarily mean he is the better free agent pickup.
I think it's a tough call

I wonder how tight Abraham is with Ferguson. Didn't they line up right next to each other, both on the left side? Fergi could help recruit.

Darren Howard missed games due to bulging discs in his neck, and then still came back and played with several other injuries..
John Abraham refused to play during the playoffs because he was hoping for a long-term extension soon.
Abraham may be a better pass rusher, but Darren Howard isn't far behind and is leaps and bounds better in run support.

my concern is the 66 million contract he wants

Good point and that is something I forgot to take into concern. How much would Howard cost us though? He seems expensive too?

All things being equal, I would honestly rather have Abraham. With salary issues and health issues, all things may not be equal.

Either guy can help Dallas, but it will come down to cost, both financial and draft picks.

It depends on scheme.
Abraham is the better pure pass rusher, but he's not as good against the run. If we insist with going with small linebackers like Dat , we need a defensive lineman who can hold his own at the point of attack. If we're going to a 3-4, then he's the much better fit.

Abraham would cost a bunch of money plus a 1st.
