IRVING -- Ten players on the Cowboys' active roster were not seen participating in the team's first practice since they surrendered a 24-point lead Sunday and lost to Detroit 34-30.
Among those who were not spotted going through the portion of the workout when media access was allowed Tuesday were kicker David Buehler (groin), wide receiver Miles Austin (hamstring), fullback Tony Fiammetta (hamstring), safety Danny McCray (unknown), cornerback Orlando Scandrick (ankle), safety Barry Church (shoulder), safety Gerald Sensabaugh (concussion), right guard Kyle Kosier (unknown), left guard Derrick Dockery (knee), and defensive end Jason Hatcher (calf).

I just hope that these two weeks are enough time to get most if not all of our injured players back healthy.
If we can do that - and avoid costly mistakes - I'll take our chances against New England.

NE's defense can't stop the Cowboys offense.
OTOH, the Pats offense is on another level. Brady w/a bad day at the office still put up 40 pts, I think.
Cowboys offense has to score, as well as play keep away from Brady & Co.

I agree with you and let's focus on what that means exactly. When healthy, we can go into the home of what is widely considered one of the top two or three teams in football right now and beat them. I refuse to be bummed out about the horrific loss on Sunday. The fact of the matter is, when we are fully healthy, when we keep our foot on the gas for 60 minutes (hopefully this will be a one-time, albeit painful, lesson the team needs on that front), we can destroy teams like the Lions.
Fast forward this year. The stars align and we're playing the Lions in the playoffs. Yes, as we saw before Sunday's game, Lions fans will come out of the woodwork and talk smack into they're blue in the face and bring up that fateful October Sunday when they beat us in our own place. But if you look past all of that bravado and arrogance, you'll notice something else behind all of their bluster. It sounds...forced. Like they're almost trying TOO hard to convince you that the Lions will beat the Cowboys down again. And then you realize what you're picking up on. They're trying to convince themselves. Because it's not confidence they're really feeling deep down inside...
...it's fear.

The running game will be crucial if we want to keep the Patriots offense off the field.

Interesting that Dez is not on the list, so that quad must be loosening up day by day. Should be closer to 90-100% next Sunday.
We really need both Sensabaugh and Scandrick out there vs NE. Sensabaugh's athleticism will help trying to cover the NE TEs. And Scandrick is probably our best matchup for Welker.
Our defense will have to force some TOs for us to win. We're capable of scoring with NE but we seem to shoot ourselves in the foot to kill drives whereas NE is capable of playing an error-free game. Should be an entertaining game with the scores in the 30s

We've got to play solid on D, avoid turnovers, and we have to get something out of the running game. Pretty much what you want to see any given week if you want to win on a regular basis.
The less time Brady and their offense has the ball the better.

The one key component that gives me most hope is Rob Ryan.
He was able to confuse Brady last year with a team full of cast-offs in Cleveland.
And he also has first-hand experience regarding how the Patriots do things.
I am optimistic to see what he can do with the talent the Cowboys have on defense.
And hopefully he finally has his top 3 cornerbacks on the field.

I agree. This is going to be a tough test for the Cowboys defense. Have to say though I look forward to seeing our defense matchup with NE.
Offensively as long as we can protect we can put up points

Romo and Brady each have five INTs, but we've chipped in two more from Kitna and 12(!) fumbles, 3 of them lost (I think that 12 number includes Costa's bad snaps). The Patriots have yet to fumble the ball this year (and I don't mean "lose a fumble" - they haven't put one on the ground yet).
To beat the Patriots, you have to play aggressively on offense (score TDs, not FGs), and you also have to limit your turnovers. The problem is that those two things work against each other.

The Patriots have won 18 straight games at Foxboro Stadium. Their last home loss was 2008 to the Steelers.
