I was shocked last year to see soooo many penalties after a year of playing pretty well with Q at QB and Darren Woodson still playing... Last year it seemed it would rain yellow every Sunday when Dallas was playing...

Who thought we had the next coming of Jackie Slater 2 years ago when Flozell had such a super year... But last year... Flozell, what gives?? Did the glory talk of being the best ever from BP go to his head?

Not just the OL, but the defensive secondary too... Watch the handsies T-New...

Amen! Getting back to "smart" play will be a necessity for BP, but I believe some of his personnel moves will improve this performance issue.

good post. I hope Parcells rides them into the ground this training camp.

I suspect this will be the toughest camp from BP in Dallas...Don't be surprised if he pulls 3 a-days if they are practicing/playing sloppy. I think we will be much more mentally tough than last year.. Vets like Bledsoe and Rivera will help that happen on offense. Fergusen and (Dare I say..Ty Law?!?!) will help on defense.

No doubt about it, this team defensively has to do a better job of tackling then they did this past season. To me that was the biggest difference I saw between the 2003 defense and the 2004 defense. In 03 you would see 2 or 3 other players converging on the ball carrier while last year too often I would see guys standing around watching the ball carrier break free from the initial tackle picking up the needed yards to move the chains.

Without Woody there was poor leadership on Defensive side of ball, different player at CB almost every week. When we started losing, the "team" disappeared, just a bunch of individuals running around trying to make a play, no cohesiveness.

Last year I just think the team was snake bit. Every time they seemed to have momentum, they'd shoot themselves in the foot. And it wasn't just the young guys, it was the old guys too. Glenn makes a great catch and Keyshawn offsets it by a personal foul penalty. All we have to do is run out the clock against Pitt and you get the fumble by Vinny cuz Richie was trying to block. It was absolutely crazy. I really hope they get back to playing smart hard-nosed football.

Flozell has gotta pick it up this year. Maybe if there was a player he had to compete with for the starting job he'd play better.

I think one of the reasons veteran FA's like Rivera and Furguson signed is that BP thinks they will bring a presence that will help cut down on sloppy play, penalties, etc. Jerry Jones keeps saying "leadership" when talking about the FA signings.

Actually, I look at it this way: Smart players make smart plays

So, its no about correcting mistakes, its about getting players who dont make them to begin with.

Agree. Self-Disciplined players, and if you think about the players that "parcells guys" thats usually the case. they are self motivators.

That's a good way to put it Hoov, if those vets can inject some accountability, we could have a hellova year. Pick it up and get with the program in Big D... The NFC East is going to be a beast again...
