View Full Version : Is Suh overrated?

I'm not saying Suh isn't a great player but the more I watch him the less impressed I am. I saw him get single blocked a lot of the times and he seems to get more cheap shots in than big plays.

Am I crazy?

Nope.

People talk like he's the second coming of Randy White.

I don't see a lot of that yet.

See, I don't either. I don't think he's bad, I just don't see the "awesome" that others do.

Maybe the money turned him a little lazy.

Pretty damn good produciton for a DT...I didn't see many guys handle him one on one last year, seems to be happening a lot this year.

Am I crazy?Certifiable, but then again define crazy.

He's one of the most dominating forces on the DL I have seen in forever. There will be stretches where any player disappears, but when they reappear it is with a vengeance. Keep watching.

Maybe he is having a down year so far, but I definitely think he is as good as everyone says

I've been watching Suh play for 3 yrs now. He's all that people make him out to be. Trust me. The guy is a BEAST, and I hate that cliche'.

:signmast:

The guy is amazing. To suggest that he is overrated tells me some haven't seen the guy play enough.

y'all people are crazy.. No great player puts up stats in every game. When ANY team plays the Lions, it's offensive coordinator's first job is to design a blocking scheme to contain Suh. That's one of THE signs of greatness. Not " what routes are we're going to do this week ", or " what runs we're going to implement ", or " in the 2nd half wer'e going to go with this package ".. none of that. It's " how can we neutralize #90 so we can have a shot ".

Take him out of that D-line, and the Lions become an at best ordinary bunch.

Suh's issue is he needs to play with more technique. In the NFL, you can't get away on physical ability alone. If he learns technique, he will begin to beast at a high level again.

Offensive lines are learning out to handle his physical ability. As soon as he develops more tools to use with that ability, he will be a great player.

Look at Ware. Every year he gets better. This year (his 7th in the league) he has implemented a new pass rush weapon that other teams have never seen from him. (the spin move)

If you ever watched Reggie White. He could beat you 50 different ways. He was so freaking incredible. He wasn't anywhere near as fast as Ware on the outside, but the man had an arsenal of technique weapons on top of his speed, leverage, and strength.

Suh needs to do the same. Keep working to develop his skills.

I would take Suh over any DL in the League today. He is that good IMO. The one thing I do see in his game that needs work is his propensity to take himself out of plays. He does run himself out of plays too many times. A lot of teams use influence blocks on him and he goes with it. Once he has more help around him, it's going to be scary what he can become.

I do not believe he is over rated.

Yup.. He's letting the O-linemen use his over aggressiveness against him too much. That'll come with more experience, though. Once he " gets it ", look out..

People forget that he's played a grand total of 22 regular season games in his career.

He would only be classified as "overrated" if he played for the Cowboys by the true Cowboys fans on this board. Since he plays elsewhere he is not overrated.

Name a better interior D-lineman.

I won't name you one better, but I will say that Richard Seymour should at least be in the conversation. I think he's been in the league 10-11 years now and is the model of consistency. The guy plays with fantastic technique and drive.

Calm down you cornhusker homer....

He can still be a great player and be overrated. I've heard him compared to Reggie White and he ain't close to that yet. He has two sacks and one TFL. I've watched him in two games this season and he got single blocked quite a bit.

Hey, notice I haven't mentioned the other ex-Cornhusker playing beside him. Funny that you mention Reggie White, because that's exactly who he reminds me of. Forget the sacks issue, Reggie White was a DE while Suh is a DT, two different animals, but in terms of body size, particularly the arms, and playing style, they're similar.

Today is the trading dateline and your OILYtwits are looking for receivers. Give you Ogletree for a 4th round pick.. 5th rounder if you beg enough.. He'd be a heck of an addition at that price.

I think he's a really good player who is one day going to be a really great player. The guy is only in his second season. He's going to continue to get better and better.

He's not great now but I do believe he's definately going to be.

I agree with you. I don't think he is over rated and would love to have him in Dallas. Kid plays tough and mean football but then I like that in a defensive tackle
